I love your story! I never tried to raise or get close to feral cats, but I was Cat Daddy to seven over a forty-plus years time frame. We had a set of Siamese sisters that were sort of like the two you described. One was the leader and outgoing, the other shy and watchful. Guess who got to the food bowl first and who watched her sister eat? Excellent work. Terry.

What a great picture of the kitten, looks like she is just waiting to be cuddled. I like the names you chose - Peaches and Cream. Sounds like you had a lot of patience, waiting to earn their trust.

This is a great kitty story! Animals are the best and the closest to innocence you'll find besides a toddler.

I loved the fact that she looked for praise and had to show off in front of you and her brother. I loved it! Best, JohnC

Good morning, debi!
What a delightful rendering about Peaches and Cream.
I smiled throughout your well-crafted piece, as I was once owned by a brother and sister duo, Dickens and Sophia Sadie Rose, who also demonstrated the very same characteristics. How I miss them...

Thank you for sharing!
Your writing flows well and is engaging for the reader...

-Great image and story, Debi.
-You really have a gift for telling a good story.
-You make each kitten personable and unique.
-I love the names, too.
-I can picture them doing the things you describe
and having the feelings they do, as well.
-I loved your idea of "video game for kittens."
-The whole back and forth with Peaches and Cream
was really interesting. Peaches did not want to be out done
by Cream, especially when he was getting praise.
-Well, I guess she showed everyone just what she could do,
and she got the praise she deserved. I'm glad she sat a little
closer to you, too.
-I love the conclusion, esp. the gold medal.
-I loved the story.
-I think you could make a small book based on these kittens when you finish Piperð???ð???

    Hi Pam,
Oh, my goodness what encouraging comments in your detailed review.
These two are competitive. Just this morning I was playing with Peaches with a new dangling toy. I left for a moment and found Cream with the new toy when I returned. I started playing with him. A few moments later, Peaches came leaping through the air and tried to grab the toy and take off with it. Kind of territorial, like it is her toy and he cannot play with it. It left me laughing.
    Have a great weekend.

Cats have incredible personalaties that they love to share. With dogs, it's just pure love, but you have to earn it with cats. What a wonderfully written story. Best of luck with your writing!

Have a great day, and God bless.

    Hi Mike,
Thank you for the six stars for this little story. I have always considered myself a dog person and have had one most of my life. These kittens appeared when I happened to be between dogs and kind of took over. I may still need a dog...

A lovely story, well told, and showing intuitive understanding of their needs and aspirations. I enjoyed it very much, as well as the photo. I'm looking forward to reading more of your work.

Peaches, teaching her brother about female empowerment, who knew? Cats are highly intelligent and sensitive creatures and these thoughts are evident in your writing. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

    Hi JT traveller,
I hadn't thought of the female empowerment she was teaching. I would say she is the boss in most things. I am happy you enjoyed this post.

What a delightful story, I can tell you enjoyed your time with the cats...I've never had a cat, but one day last summer, I found a mother cat with her 4 kittens, in my back yard...She didn't come close but I could tell she needed food..So for the whole summer, I would out a pan of food for her, and the kittens.

I never tried to touch her, and she did relax a bit, and would come every day, with the kittens...
And one day when I went outside, she was gone..I actually missed her, she was a yellowish color cat, ad so were the kittens.
Actually, my dog must have seen her too, but he never bothered them...Your story was so well written, and easy to read...Thanks for sharing...it was a pleasure reading..All the Best!

Warmly,
Victoria

    You're very welcome, Debi,
    I really enjoyed the story,
    sadly, I never saw the
    cat and her kittens again.

I was stuck with a bag of
    cat food, that I couldn't
    feed to my dogs...

    All the best!
    Warmly,
    Victoria

If I had a six left, I would give you another one. The darling story proves what a gifted writer you. I could visualize the scene which goes to prove kittens/cats understand human talk!
