This is really good. I like that you had them go ahead and break the ice. I hate when an author spends too much time with chance encounters. One spag. When he tells her landlord's and cops can't enter, it reads can enter. I am wondering what Emma's bad habit or flaw is. I can tell Seth is of a suspicious nature. Probably good for his job but I can't get a handle on Her. She seems very grounded, both in her approach to life and her faith, but I'd love to see her human weakness. This is really a very good story and keeps moving along. Now I have to wait until I find out who is at the driveway. Great chapter. Gretchen

This is an excellent second chapter. At first I thought Seth was her father's age. Now I can see he is younger than her father. My question is he closer to Emma's age? I do not see any need for improvement. Have a blessed day.

This is well written and everything looks very nice and crisp. I like the feel of and pace. Having Emma be an establish Church going woman with roots in the town and people will make their relationships feel more natural. You've established that she has many talents in the musical field with dancing, instruments, and singing. Plus her top marks graduating will show her intelligence and dedication.

- Emma should be too smart to think such a thing. But, your choice.
"I won't unless I feel there's a problem. I don't anticipate any."
- Would a sheriff say this? Wouldn't he say, "A renter has rights, even a landlord or I can enter without a warrant or an emergency."

I love this story and the direction that it is headed in. It is definitely a feel good type story and that just happens to be my favorite kind. I sense a love affair slowly brewing with Emma and Seth. I would love to see it develop. I also sense that something dark and dangerous may be lurking somewhere in the future.

This darkness around the corner, and I can promise Seth and Emma will become a couple, but that takes the entire novel, they both have issues to work out. LOL Thank you for the kind review.

Character flaws are not bad. Perfect characters come across as unrealistic cardboard dolls and are unbelievable. Everyone should have a quirk, and at least one bad habit, even the good guys. Otherwise, it was a solid chapter that placed the positions of your main characters squarely. kay

Character flaws are not bad. Perfect characters come across as unrealistic cardboard dolls and are unbelievable. Everyone should have a quirk, and at least one bad habit, even the good guys. Otherwise, it was a solid chapter that placed the positions of your main characters squarely. kay

Well Barbara, this is another great chapter to your new book. I'll see how I get along with all the religious stuff, as I don't believe in any of it. But I do respect those who do except when it turns into preaching. I want to be respected as well.
