You've tackled a mysterious problem with just a few well thought out words. Well done. The mind can certainly play tricks on us and make us believe all manner of things. I wish there were more facilities in this country dedicated to mental health issues, we're in dire need of them. Thanks for sharing this gal.

Excellent work Lea, in striking at the heart of the problem: "illogical surety reigns." I have witnessed this myself: my partner in the throes of Parkinson's was convinced each night that his carers planned to kill him, and that I had cheated him of his money. -A very fraught time.

Dare I say that one doesn't have to be mentally ill to suffer from 'illogical surety.' That's a nice phrase to describe many people in our world and I'm thinking of those who find themselves under the spell of a charismatic leader despite clear evidence of his unworthiness.

Delusions. Who has them? To the mentally ill, their world is the correct one! Why trust the rest? I've done some years as a mental health RN (back in the day)--and "Illogical surety reigns" could have gotten me promoted if I'd thought to add that to a patient's care plan!

Although not an RNI certainly had 1st hand experience deal my grandmother specialized in group homes for teen agers my mother and she adopted and fostered kids my. Mother did the same my soda and my sister. I have an Uncle who's high up in sexual services as well so I was able to come across a variety of mental illnesses.. My experiences of a practical nature without any educational experience at all. However I felt it was important to put that lineup there and I'm really glad that it means something to you and thank you again for having a read And offering your thoughts!

It's tule number one when first entering psych nursing. Accept where the client is...do not push reality on them. They must come to you... If you attack their delusions they fall deeper into them You're VERY perceptive to understand that!

See you're intuitive you know stuff and you wouldn't know stuff because you're a poet's need the sensitivity to be a good friend. So what 1 would call an extra sense or a 6th sense especially for women who are poets welcome? To the world of the intuitive people which i'm sure you already no have a wonderful evening!

When I was a child, the only person who could convince me my hallucinations weren't real was my sister. Other than by her, I could not be convinced that these things were not real. You did an excellent job expressing this feeling with just eight words. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Mental illness is difficult to treat and even the experts are still searching for answers. I think we have to have empathy but we certainly cannot cure anybody, a poignant write Lea, love Dolly x
