Hello, Charity,
I read your well-crafted poem last evening, and I have just now been able to return to it.
Honest.
Brutal in places.
But the message is sound and clear.
And if I may, I have to do better as well...

Thank you for sharing!

Thanks a lot for sharing this wake up call. You're addressing a very controversial subject in this wonderfully written poem. But it is a subject that has to be addressed now and not in some vague distant future. Ulla:)))

Yes it needed to be address. My brother inspired me to write this as we roll around in the hood of chicago.

I find this work both sad and uplifting. History has been cruel to people of color, forcing distrust, fear, and submission. You highlight these things and show where some have given up and have also preyed on their own.

The uplifting side is the message to take charge and the be the force of change, to stop the violence, and to cultivate the young so that they are no longer victimized.

It's a powerful piece.

Rough and ready story told. Our indigenous folk are growing and when whitey let's us, we are doing well. A black world without a dream leads to chaos. Misunderstood, labelled, whitey judges us to his so-called-standards. Stolen generation from Africa your mob. We were just taken. Good to see you writing. Bin' a while sweetpea. K xx

This is a real call for a total paradigm shift among especially the black communities. It was a well written piece of advice straight from the heart. I could identify with the message of the poem. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom.

You have powerful words here that teach the reader. I like your line about the Bible, so many of us do not find the truth in it and change our ways. Your beat and rhythm are strong and add to the strength of your theme. "Road to redemption the Messiah already paved" is another marvelous full of truth.

Thank you for sharing this with us. I've not read your poem for a while. I enjoyed reading this and you touched on a hard subject. I noticed of the rhyme seemed forced. You might want to check that.

Ray Charles to the truth so we continue to live a lie together . (omit space before the period)

Hey, Charity. It's been a while! I see you have not lost your edge, nor would I ever expect you to. This is an equal opportunity rant~~slamming the broad-brush assumptions made about both Caucasians and Blacks...

Angry? Yes -- but angry about the stereotypical characterizations made by a skewed media and a political system with an agenda.

You're so right. We can all do better. Not everyone is a "Cracka" nor a "Rapper" promoting "guns, drugs, and sluts."

Real voices with hard truths promote real dialogue.

You keep telling it as you feel it. Hope you're still doing those poetry slams!

Almost time to send me a new YouTube link?

Karenina
