This ABC poem, The Word Collector, has the proper formatting and examines these words which lean to the ethereal in meaning. Ornate, angelic, and awesomely shiny are nice things to imagine.

A very creative abc poem Heather and a great collection of words you've used. I love your interpretation of these words, in particular, filigree.
Good luck in the contest.

What a great celebration of words and how the sounds they make create such wonderful images. How lucky was are to have language to share our thoughts and words to let us dream.

Such an awesome title! And I love the words you've pulled from your treasure chest for your poem. I agree with your assertion that filigree is a gorgeous word, and I like the comparison to 'lace hanging from my mouth.' And your second line comparing gossamer to 'transparent nectar of the gods' is a lovely line. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful poem. Best wishes in the contest.

This reminds me of my sister. She is a language teacher (English and Spanish), and she's a "word nerd." I am not calling you a nerd! I enjoyed your poem of wonderful words with the ABC format. Thanks for sharing, and best wishes to you.

I really loved your choice of opening words for the ABC poetry competition.
Your descriptions and emotional attachment to all four words gave the poem a depth rarely seen in other ABC poems I have read.

This poem is a beautiful ABC poem. The sounds made by words is something that I've found interesting since reading Anne of Green Gables, many years ago. I've been working on picture book stories recently, and often I get ideas from the way my children phrase things. You picked lovely words, and created imaginative phrase, like a treasure chest full of sounds, or lace hanging from a mouth.

A treasure chest full of sounds (and words and sentences and stories). I think we writers are a very lucky bunch.
This is a fine ABC poem and filigree, gossamer, halcyon, and immortal used in one poem are always going to make it special.
Great presentation here - good luck with the contest.

Hi Maria,
The sounds of some words are catchy. But you know, there was a spell here in Fanstory when quite a few poets were using "gossamer", and it lost its flavor (shall we say). It became a platitude. Such a shame. I just didn't want to find it again in a poem anymore.
Terrific entry for the ABC contest. I wish you "Good Luck!"
Hugs,
Kimbob
