I don't think there's anything like a forest, or indeed a single tree. There's a story that a man and woman raised a family, in the hollow of a tree in our local wine region, called the Herbig tree, the family name. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Your poem delivers what the title promises. The mothering tree and blanketing leaves suggest comfort. Naming the malicious hope thieves separates what could be a nice getaway from the sanctuary you so beautifully describe.

Holy smokes that's amazingly beautiful! And you followed the contest rules to the letter and came out with something wonderful! I really enjoyed it especially because of your subject matter which is something that's dear to my heart I'm very much involved in the climate change issue that has to do with forestry and what happens after large fires. I find it entertaining to read the various approaches to this particular writing prompt. Some are strictly philosophical whereas others founded in actual substance, you mixed them in nicely.
