Howdy,

The first line should be 80,000. You have 80.00.

Just wanted to give you a heads up so that you have a good gifting chance in this contest.

Nice write up!

    Thank you !

There is another entry on the bombing. He/she posted a few minutes before I did. Normally I would have refrained from posting but I had put time and effort into this poem.

Thank you for reading and for the tip. Much appreciated!

The ways of man continues to threaten our very own existence. Your writing reminds us that we continue to fear the idea someone is always wanting to take something that isn't theirs.

    Ciao!

    I just made the deadline.

I posted it just a few minutes after the other entry on the atomic bomb. ( Bloom of Fire)

Normally, I would have not posted mine seeing someone else had chosen the same topic but I had put several hours into piecing this poem together.

The other entry is far more emotional .. it was that or keep it factual .. doing both ( emotional and factual) would have made my entry as long as an Egyptian
papyrus. It?s already far too long( sigh)

It takes a few moments to actually let the info truly sink in?.. 88.000 people were just vaporised . It really shocks.

There is a dark side in us and sadly too often it prevails.

It?s all about wealth and wielding power.

PS: I actually read a book written by a survivor years ago as a teen , the author described that not only the flesh but also eye balls melted. I don?t see that mentioned on google links though.

These historic incidents are frightening and the madness of it all is so destructive. We humans have built self destructive devices to kill us all and it only takes one madman at the helm to push the button. Your poem is powerful and a reminder of how foolish we are. Love Dolly x

Yes we are our own worse enemy .. one day we will end up wiping out our race.

Our governments are experimenting with viruses for years..

we have not learnt anything from this pandemic..

We still play around as if we were God

    Thank you for sharing

    Keep safe!

Such a devastating moment in history! I loved how you made this poem so factual and informative. It flowed like a poem and yet had the tone of an essay. I actually really liked it presented in this format as I wanted to read on to understand more.

Your poem is equally as valid and valued as a different perspective! You are right. THe staggering figures and facts are unfathomable! What I love is that while another's poem may tug at emotions and heartstrings, the sheer numbers and scale and magnitude and lasting impact can be understood from yours! That is why we need wonderful writing be it prose or poetry, informative or narrative and anything in between to learn from and allow ourselves to both think and feel and understand.

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement.

The two poems do complement each other 🙂

    Take care🍀
