Oh, this has got to do well, Jim! Thematically it delivers much the same message as the golf poem: In both everything aims for a successful conclusion, but in the end, either a lipped hole or a brakeman's oversight caused a match to be lost and old blue obliterated!

Your target audience should be those kids approaching teenhood, not the little tykes, who would have nightmares for weeks. LOL, Good, though!

Yes, definitely for older kids! I hadn't thought of the parallel with "Wile on the Green," but, you're right.

So, do you think Some Call it Luck will have an unhappy ending too?

I really love your poetry, and this is no exception. The rhyming is wonderful, and it reads like a song being sung.

What I like best about this one is that you've made Blue human - with feelings such as pride. And he's the hero! What a great story for children.

The entire presentation is terrific - words, image, and background color (blue, of course!).

Love the last line - he'd come back from the dead, then died again for good. We'll remember you, Ole Blue!

Congratulations on number 100!

Oh! How my little grandsons love trains, Jim, and they are just little fellas!
Your poem reads smoothly and tells an awesome tale.
I do remember Bill Peet's works, although I don't believe I have any of his books in my children's library.
Captivating and rollicking.
Thank you for sharing!

Best Wishes!

Thanks, Diane. My grandsons loved them too when they were younger. I just hope little kids won't find the ending too disappointing.
