Wow - I did not see that coming, and neither did Colin Ermintrude Cunningham. What a way to go, a bullet through his head, or was it his eye from looking through the peep hole. Either way - dead! This was one suspenseful and realistic read. Good job.

This was a fun story for me to read. I liked the twist that was in it. Very enjoyable and entertaining read, and quite interesting. It was a very creative piece that you wrote. Well done. Thank you for sharing.

The action is crisp here, that last scene explodes with the bullet going through the glass into the murderer of Brody. Nice set up from the opening scene to the end, lots of seething emotion seems to flow just under the surface of the scenes here. estory

Like any good horror movie... you have to ask, why did he open the door and not make a run for it out the window to the inevitable fire escape or the ledge or whatever?
Because thugs are so dumb... they always go for the door.

I'm not familiar with Brett's character but gee I loved this piece! You sure know how to write in a witty and gripping manner. A really great read and I'm fresh in with 6's!

This is a cute and creative story. The ending was terrific. I love to write surprise endings myself, so I thought this was perfect. I truly enjoyed your story. Nice writing.

I like it! Good work.
It rings of my wife and my stories in a book we titled 'Plot This' where killed off literary characters get revenge on the writers who killed them.
Hah! I post some individual stories from it here on FS.
Best wishes.

One of my favourite pieces is a story where the animal creatures of an author who has kept them going for decades and not let them grow up come out of the book and sort her out. lol Many thanks, Wayne. G

I'm afraid that after two read-throughs, I still don't understand the "battered and bruised body". Was he already dead? Or, was Chet putting him out of his misery? And finally, the trigger that Chet pulled was metaphorical. Some mysteries inside of mysteries. But sometimes, without prompting, answers come to me at 4 AM. So many things keep me awake at 4 AM.

No mystery about this though: You've written some powerful prose here, G. You practice all that you preach in your tutorials. Your timing, though, for a six, couldn't be worse.

Chet was putting him out of his misery. Brody is a character in a book, thus the writer's metaphorical trigger. It's a bit surreal this one but it's based on an experience Brett had with his Cody stories.

    Many thanks, Jay
