Grandpa used to say in to each one's life some times rain would fall to wash away the pain of it all.Ti be left behind to carry on without you loved one. I can o my can I ever relate! It hurts deep down to the core of our soul. But we see it through on step at a time hoping the pain will end and wish for brighter days to come our way.

I like Jim's idea that poetry is divided in 4 categories... love, conflict/war, religion, or death/grief/loss.

I love the smell and sound of rain. I like the personification.

Well done.

Thank you Gypsy. I have always had a thought in the back of my mind that if you stand out in the rain and cry, it will wash it all away... weird, but nevertheless, a thought I have. :)

The title is excellent and goes well with these words and also the theme of this poem. Thank you for the author notes - they are always good when I learn something new! The poem flows and connects well. The last line is
exceptional and I can almost hear the rhythm of the rain!
Hi Melissa, hope you're having a great Sunday!.....Maria

Hello Maria... yes, my Sunday is going very well. I am at the Panera Restaurant with my headphones on while I review on FS. A cup of coffee nearby and an orange glazed scone too. I hope to be able to write a poem while I am here... we shall see. Hugs and Thank you so much.

A beautiful sonnet in every way... You deal with grief and yet leave the hope that like the rain washes all things new again, grief also will be cleansed from our hearts, that we may yet again embrace the sun!

Oh wow, I just want to cry with your words as that was, is me. It is the perfect portrayal of a broken heart and the emptiness with the rain falling like tears. I lost my son and grief is a horrible, lonely existence.

This beautifully written sonnet was an honour to read.
The emotion of pain and desire for relief or release is evident in the flow of words.

Hello, Melissa,
Oh my goodness!
So incredibly painful!
And yet, I, too, have felt the selfsame emotions...
Your form is well-executed.
Wishing I had six stars...

Thank you for sharing!

If only standing in the rain to the washer away, the pain of hurts in our lives, we would see many standing in the rain and sheltered. Sometimes I wish that I could stand in the shower and wash all of the herd away, but it never happens, so I have to rely on the Lord to take me through the pain and to be able to forgive those that hurt me. Patricia.

I believe nature should be included as a major topic. Many of the poetry contest winners write about nature. Great work with your sonnet form, it reads smoothly, and your rhyme sounds unforced. I like your optimistic turn in the third stanza, with its vision of rays of sunshine breaking through the gray sky. Your concluding couplet harkens back to the first stanza with the tears falling. judi

Thank you so much Judi... so appreciate you! Btw... I just received a pm from Pookietoo asking me to go to a certain contest and review her poem... she didn't ask for me to vote for it.... I've never had someone do that before. I reported it, but was uncertain if I should have since they didn't ask for a vote.

If you ask me, she was asking in a roundabout way for your vote, even if she didn't come right out and say, "Vote for me." I know these contests are supposed to be monitored, but I think there's funny business going on anyway. judi

I agree... made me feel very funny and I haven't gone to see what's going on there. Also, its sooo odd because she has never given me a review that I can remember.
reply by judiverse on 29-Jan-2023
I think I know the contest she's talking about. If it hadn't been for the ongoing contest, I'd see nothing "off" about her asking for you to review. Since it was during a contest, you're right to be suspicious. judi

hey Judi... I did send in and report the issue. Tom wrote back and said the site was handling it.... then, I looked and the poem was not listed in the contest anymore and Pookietoo's page is gone... I don't know what happened.
reply by judiverse on 29-Jan-2023
Yes, I just looked and noticed it's no longer in the contest. It behooves us all to be extra-cautious when entering a contest. Maybe this is just a temporary banishment. Sometimes people just aren't aware of the rules. judi

Grief can be such an overwhelming emotion that we feel extremely unsheltered and vulnerable in our pain. This poem captures the intensity of this woman's mourning. Well done!
