This is a good entry for the Children's poem contest.
I like that it is in the voice of a child making demands on the worst type pets possible - polar bear cub, capuchin monkey, zebra. But... a clever little sausage for only wanting a puppy and will most likely get that instead. Nicely done. I enjoyed reading this poem. It ended with a smile for me. Thank you for sharing and best of luck in the competition.

Aw, Chrystie, this children poem is just too cute. I'm sure this time she will get her wish as it is a pup. The other choices would be a bit problematic. This is a great entry. Good luck. Ulla:)))

This is great. At least the little girl didn't ask for a hippopotamus for Christmas. I love all the requests for the oversized pets and the mother's reasons why they wouldn't be a good idea. They're all whimsical, especially the one about the zebra's stripes washing off. I don't think it's possible to train zebras to do anything. Excellent wording and rhyme. After all the girl's requests, I'm such mother will be happy for her to have a dog. Maybe that was the girl's strategy all along?

Hah hah, the thought of any of these animals wandering the house, gicpves mu goose bumps...goose bumps. We've always made pets members of our household, with bed rights as well, (not quite dinner table rights) this is beautifully written dear girl. Well done, Blessings Roy

You took us on a zoo shopping spree. Like your poem. I'm glad that you settled on a pup instead of a zebra or monkey. I hope the pup is little and tame, not as wild as an animal.

This poem, Shopping for a Pet at the Zoo, is a hilarious selection and dismissal conversation that puts Dad as the stopper for all ideas. Looks like dog might make the cut though.

Stick with a pup . My granddaughter wanted her mom to get her a polar bear from Alaska and told her mom the bear could have her bed she'd sleep in her new pup tent where she kept her stuffed animals in the corner of her room.
She thought I better not dad would get the gun if he started to run toward him. Maybe I will get a stuffed one or maybe two!you don't want him to get lonely do you ?

I like the enthusiasm of the child's voice asking for all those wild animals. I also like how the mom seems to use the dad as an excuse for why the animals wouldn't fare well at home. But the child is really smart because by asking for the wild and impossible first, Mom is surely easy to convince to get a pup!

This is just how children think, they are unpractical and innocent when it comes to animals and would fill their gardens with an assortment of different pets to enjoy. Adults on the other hand have to be practical and we end up with a dog or a cat as a pet. Your fun poem will delight children Crystie, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Thank you for a super, perceptive review. I always wanted a koala bear myself. Thank you for spending time on this poem.
