Well, it appears Abby is leading a Cinderella life, despite the injustices that were done to her, causing her to lose her job. She got to be home with her growing family and once they were in school and she wanted to test her wings again in business, who but her former mentor, Leroy, would be there to get her another management position. It seemed like she got the best of both worlds: family and career. And once her failing self-confidence is bolstered again, she will be ready to soar. Something's got to come up soon that will test her and/or E.J. souls and inject conflict into their lives.

At least that's one reader's opinion. This is well-crafted, as usual, Jim.

Quite right, Jay, as usual. And it will involve golf too.

Jim, I need to say that what I wrote above was not really criticism. It was just a subtle feeling I had.

I understood that. Your subtle feelings are right on the money.

This chapter sees life working out for Abby with her old boss and for E.J. since he's found someone to care for. Something needs to happen to grab the readers' attention before the chapter ends.

I'm a sucker for stories with good outcomes and potentially happy endings, I would rather read the fairy tale princess and endings, there is enough trauma and bad news out there, beautifully written. Blessings Roy

I'm with you, Roy. I much preferred the movie version of "The Natural" over the book of the same name by Bernard Malamud. It's an American book about a baseball player, so you may not be aware of it, but the film version had a happy ending, while the book had a depressing ending. The movie was much better than the book, which is usually not the case.

I can't wait to see how Abby does going back to work. I do understand. I stayed home with my children until they got into full day school. Only I went back to teaching, totally different than going back into a man's world. You have me hooked.

The next morning, I called Leroy back and accepted the position. (The following morning)

Barbara, this remark (I can't wait to see how Abby does going back to work) caused me to go back and add a chapter to the story, which will come out tomorrow. I think it will be a better story for it. Thank you!

Again, a smooth running tale that reads well and maintains the flow of its characters. I must go back a chapter or two as I believe some time has passed that I need to get caught up on. Has the invention been discussed yet?

Taking on management responsibilities can be intimidating to some. There is no sure fire way of being a manager, so much depends on personality.

Abby will have to navigate through her emotions and on the actual job performance.

Good post. I'm curious to see what's in store.

Keep up the good work.

You are certainly right. My first experience with management did not go particularly well, but I eventually learned.

Thanks for the good review, John.

Thanks, Tom. You'll find out how Abby does two chapters from now.

Tomorrow's chapter will reintroduce us to a character from way back at the beginning of the story.
