As a teacher, I've seen this happen time and again. I noticed that the attitude usually started at the end of seventh grade. It's as if they've suddenly become pod creatures. This is an excellent poem. I hope you won.

Thank you Mary for such an encouraging review. You understand perfectly! Ah no, it didn?t win. No votes other than mine, in fact! Lol. So, obviously it didn?t resonate with voters, although all the reviews were favourable.

You are very welcome. Sometimes voting is easy but other times there are so many really, really goods entries it's hard to choose just one. I'm sure that's what happened with yours.

Like your poem. Has the number of syllables in each line. The image is of a teenager. We must keep loving and accepting values of a teen boy. The young adult years are difficult for them.

Thank you Rosemary. Great review. Yes, and also sad and confusing for parents. It's a difficult journey for all.

For me it was the apparently empty house I found disturbing, as they all hibernated out in their rooms. Convivial evenings in the lounge were totally lost for the duration. kay

Ah yes, I remember those years. I think the teenaged boys are more likely to be silent. It's the hormonally fluctuating teen girls who can be a lot more vocal. Great use of every syllable. Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you very much. The girls often do that one-shoulder shrug thing. Lol.

This is a good 5-7-5- entry to the contest. The text is a nice size. The message is clearly stated and sadly true. I like the additional info in your AN. However, some teens do not outgrow this stage, and some die in this rebellious stage. The visual fits perfectly. Good luck in the contest.

A perfect poem regarding many teenagers! I found the author's words truly stating the behavior of my own teenagers until they were in their 20's! Thank you for the author's notes - they speak volumes. The artwork is awesome and compliments both the theme and words of this poem.

Yes, the teenager. I have two children, and their teenage years were something. I don't know what happens to them at this time, but it sometimes makes them so hard to understand.

There were times when we didn't even get the eye rolls or a mumble. We would've welcomed those.

Were we the same at that age? Probably!

Great post.
Cheers. John

Those sullen teenage blues are hard to deal with as they cannot cope with adolescence, a poignant write and I am glad my parenting days are over! Ha ha ha, love Dolly x

Seven silent years! Depends it they are girls or boys. Ha! Did I say that out loud? Oh my?

Great entry. As father of 2 current teenagers, this made me chuckle. Nice work.

Lol. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for reviewing! The girls often do that disdainful shoulder thing too, or look at you as if you are either from outer space or crawled out from under a log.
