I like the enjambement of this poem, and also the idea of a child being ridiculed by a wild bird. Perhaps it is a lack of swimming ability that the loon finds amusing, or perhaps the fact of being earthbound. Who can know? kay

This is a good 5-7-5- entry to the contest. The text is a nice size. The message is clearly stated and easily understood. Reading the poem with the title you even managed to make it rhyme. The visual fits well. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you, Sandra. I learned the importance of text size from you a few months ago, and I've been thankful ever since.

I got a giggle from this piece. It has a nice flow to it for a little piece, which makes it feel larger and more in-depth. But I wonder are they laughing with me or at me?

Thank you so much! I don't often write these shorter poems unless a humorous idea comes to mind.

I enjoyed reading this poem. It was short and sweet and got right to the point which is what I truly appreciate while reading a poem. I think this poem has potential

Being laughed at is sometimes hurtful, even if the one making a joke means well. I have learned to laugh at myself these days, especially as I have gotten older, I do lots of silly things! Ha ha ha, a fun post, love Dolly x

I'm with you, Dolly. Best to laugh at the dumb things you do than to fret about them. You'll be happier in the long run--and then you've got funny stories to tell!

I couldn't figure out the sexual content warning until I studied the picture better.

Can birds really laugh?

This was cute and funny and should be a contender!

Thanks, Douglas. I wasn't sure about the sexual content warning, but when in doubt...

I like the reference to the loon's unique quivering song that does sound like possible laughter. Great job putting in a rhyme in each line of your 5-7-5. Best wishes in the contest!

The definition of buffoon is a clown; the image displays a young girl shivering in the water naked. Loons, which are the size of large ducks or small geese, resemble the duck and geese when swimming.

I guess I interpreted the picture to be a foolish young girl who somehow managed to lose her top in the pool, and her friend (or enemy) found it.

your answer makes sense. I was trying to visual the effect this girl had to the loon~
