So far, you have enjoyed an extensive career as a teacher of multiple age groups. Your list is comprehensive, humorous at times, and accurate. After a thirty year career in administration, my husband retired and taught 9 to 12th grades. (Ugg) When I retired, I taught ages 2 to 5 year old beautiful babies. Your list mimicked many of my husband's experienced and a few of mine. One thing is for sure. There is never an "off" switch. Welcome to FanStory.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. Wow, thirty years. I hope one day I can be in that place, too. That's awesome that you and your husband have both experienced different aspects of teaching. Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

Any raves I get for my postings are due in large to an English professor that thought my writings were spectacular. At least, that what she said as encouragement. The other was a h.s. teacher forty-five post h.s. graduation who asked me to come to her creative writing's classes each semester for four years to read to her students. It was g-r-e-a-t. I knew how to put on a show, and she got ninety-minutes to rest and laugh. Once she retired, I grew despondent.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. That's awesome that you had two teachers inspiring and mentoring you. Those are the best moments. I love it when I can connect with my kiddos in that way. Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

I taught high school English for 23 years and loved my students so I could connect with a few of your points in particular 'free time'. Not even on weekends when I had to make out lesson plans and catch up with grading essays. Teaching students who are still in their formative years is probably more rewarding. But still I had teenagers who loved my innovative teaching methods and tried to transfer into my class the following year.
Looking at #1 again, I ended my day covered in chalk! Whiteboards and markers came along after I retired. I love the humor of this piece.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. My mom taught high school English for several years, but I'm not sure how I'd fare there. I believe I'm more suited to the younger grades. Regardless, I still recall the mountains of grading she brought home each day. I even helped her on a few occasions. It was a great experience as I did edit papers for a while during my college years. Thank you again for reading. I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. Take care. :D :D

I am not a teacher, but my mother and sister are, and this sounds oh so true to life! My mother especially has "the Look" and "the Tone." I got a laugh out of this! Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. My mom had "the Look" and "the Tone," too. I always knew when I'd gone too far, and whenever I heard "the Tone," especially if it was soft, I wanted them to yell at me because I couldn't stand disappointing them. It's interesting how life turns out. Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

That's a wonderful list. I homeschooled our children and that was hard enough, but to be a teacher today is the last job I'd want.
Thanks for loving your job. Keep the light bulbs shining!
Nice work.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. What a coincidence! My mom homeschooled me! One of the best choices my parents made for me, as it set me up for a great life. Yes, teaching now is difficult, but I still love it. Thank you again. I most definitely will! Take care. :D :D

And we both live in Arkansas!

Wow! If I may ask, where in Arkansas do you live?
reply by Rebecca Roberts1 on 24-Jan-2023
I live in the Ouachita National Forest in a small community about 20 miles from Waldron.
    And you?
reply by the author on 24-Jan-2023
    I live in Clarksville.

Wow! That's not so far away.
We are sitting in the dark, sort of. This winter storm has knocked out a lot of power lines. We have an inverter and battery going for a short bit. How are things your way?
reply by the author on 25-Jan-2023
We didn't lose our power and, other than a light dusting of snow on a few roofs and cars, it just rained over here.
reply by Rebecca Roberts1 on 26-Jan-2023
We got 9 inches of snow and it is a icy mess this morning. It might be a week before we get our power back. We are at the end of the line. I have just about an hour on the internet and then we shut everything off and save our batteries.
It is nice chatting with you.

It's nice chatting with you, too, Rebecca. I hope you get your electricity back soon. It's amazing how much we rely on technology nowadays. Ironically, today is the 100th day of school, so I'll be talking to my students about what life was like 100 years ago--advancements and popular things. It'll be fun. Take care! :D

Nice commentary about your occupation. Not being a teacher myself it gave me an insight into how your life functions. I suppose we all have similar thoughts about different aspects of our various professions. Thankyou for sharing your thoughts.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. I'm thrilled I could give you a glimpse into a teacher's psyche. It can be a fun and complex place. :D You're right. Everyone has similar feelings about their chosen profession. Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

Teachers are certainly classroom teachers in whatever they do during the day; you do wear many hats; some of them I am sure are not pleasant. I enjoyed reading your post. Many good pointers, for sure!

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. Yes, I do, but as you said, some are not pleasant, but everything I do is for my babies. Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

My first teacher was also my first cousin. In family situations, she was still a teacher. Your love of teaching is obvious in every word you wrote. I admire anyone in your line of work. Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. That's cool you learned from your cousin. My mom was my teacher up until I went to college. I still find myself acting like a teacher and my friends snickering, "You just went teacher mode." (My best friend and roommate can attest to that.) Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

And that's TwelfthGrade! Ha! Sorry, couldn't help myself! God Bless you teachers! I could never so it. I would rather deal with felons, criminals, and scallywags any day of the week.

Great work here!

I could swear this was my wife writing this! She was an elementary school teacher (special ed., kindergarten, 1st grade) for 30 years, and her feelings and experiences mirror yours exactly. Teachers like you and my wife are a special breed of people. It's a job that I'm sure few could do well.

Beautifully and accurately written!

Thank you for reading and reviewing, Jim. I appreciate it and your feedback. That's amazing! Thirty years--what a privilege. I hope I'm able to get there one day, too. I love teaching, and even though I didn't think it was for me in the beginning (I have a poem about this coming soon), I've loved every second of my journey. Thank you! I really, really appreciate you saying that. Take care. :D :D
