This is the kind of history I like to read about. This man is a hero and your poem reads like a mini movie, I can see him in action, tracking down the criminals. Excellent poem that teaches the reader.

I used to read Australian romances and they portrayed lfe in cattle or sheep stations..they used to mention the aboriginals who could track expertly ..

I wondered if perhaps a different poetic or narrative form may have suited the telling of this story better? Using the repeat words in this one for me halted the flow in places. But poetry is so subjective so another may feel this works perfectly for them! You know I love your writing Aussie and it is a good poem with excellent choice of theme.

The film released by his grandson is called Tracker.

Thanks for sharing a very informative poem about a man, an aboriginal tracker, few would know anything about.
Such stories probably still abound in aboriginal lore but so many never reach the eyes and ears of the white fella.

I believe Riley lived the land he loved and there was no one
better to do the kind of job he did. He knew all of the intricacies
of his land where others unfamiliar with the land wouldn't have
the success he had. Your words flowed smoothly and created great
