What a super way to describe that heart-wrenching event! I don't know how I missed this poem but I'm so happy that you placed in this contest. The six words tell a moving story!

Hello Helen. Thank you, sweet friend, for your wonderful words... you always know the perfect thing to say. I would love to write more often ~ and review too, but have recently taken on the leadership of our church's Women's Ministry, plus President of the local Garden Club. I'm mentally swamped. Please remember me in your prayers. Thanks again.

This is a fine entry for the six word poem contest. With minimal words the statement is impactful and to carry it over the line - a very emotional picture. All very impressive.

Melissa,
This is an exceptional poem. Your photo is touching and is worth a thousand words.

Your six words are powerful.
Nice work.
I'm sorry I'm sometimes late in reviewing, Melissa. I can still walk but am crippled up with chronic pain (arthritis) in the winter. It's so difficult to review and write with pain sometimes.
Have a great 2023!
Blessings,
Cindy

A powerful six word poem with a very emotive image to clarify the meaning,
All to often this image replays around the world.
Thanks for drawing attention to an issue which so often goes unseen.

Ugh. One of the saddest --yet most memorable and awe-inspiring-- of all traditions I have ever witnessed. You managed to capture it all in just six words. Now THAT's talent, Melissa. Plus, this picture you found to accentuate your perfect poem is equally excruciating. You never cease to captivate me with your talent --no hyperbole. Everything you write makes me feel.

Powerful. Those six words hit a person in the chest. The picture seals the deal and brings it home. Many have experienced what you've written. Thought provoking and humbling. Well done.

This is very emotional. We feel for the relatives who lose a loved one in times of war. The flag symbolizes their loss. Touching picture. You might want to go with a present tense verb. Your sentence, despite the powerful thought, seems incomplete. Best of luck in the contest. judi

This six-word poem, New Flag, has the proper word count and shows the readers a brief glimpse of sacrifice, loss, and suffering which is part of the military way of life.

Wow, I was moved by these 6 words. Such moving image and imagery, I instantly got the message you were conveying even though I am not American or familiar with these traditions, I have seen and read enough American TV and movies to recognize the subject matter you have portrayed.

Pithy and perfect. You have my last 6 stars of the week.

This business with the flag, presented to the widow is a fine tradition of the services of the USA. I am sure it must be heart rending for the recipient even though it is the ultimate token of esteem.
