Nice rhythm. Fun. I think I'd like the same material in a different format, too. More weighty less sing-song? Perhaps with rhymes in the miiddle of lines instead of always ends.

Well this was written for a contest that called for something brief ina poem. It might have worked better in longer format.
    Thanks for the review.

I like this poem very much, both for its sentiments and for its skill in writing. I would add cute little ass, but not for publication. Must reveal that as a young person I admired large forearms and small bottoms, but pessimistically concluded that I would marry a man with the opposite. Sure enough I had 2 husbands and neither had those physical qualifications I so liked.

This was a well-crafted list of things you'd like in a man. The rhyme moved it along nicely. It covered a few surface traits, "A well-toned arm" as well as few deeper traits, "An active mind that's always kind." Keeping the same end rhyme for each stanza was clever and interesting.

I agree with you message about what you like in a man. It to is my feelings about a man. If more people would figure out what they really like about the man they marry, I think there would be fewer divorces. I was married to such a man for almost 37 years before God called him home.

These are amazing qualities in a man and where may ask did you find him? I loved your well rhymed words that flowed like honey and melted like butter on my tongue, much enjoyed and a winner for the contest, love Dolly x

Thank you Dolly, They may not be as easy to find these days. I met him accidentally and I feel very fortunate to have spent 61 years with this wonderful man before he died.

This is a great little poem you have written about your man. Your style is very effective. Your economy of words works very well. I also must say the qualities you find desirable make a lot of sense. Thank you for entering the contest. Good luck. Terry.

I was with you all the way, though being a man, that remark is qualified.
But the last line confuses me - 'no ties that bind.'
I'm drawn to John Fawcett's hymn -
Blest be the tie that binds
Our hearts in Christian love;
The fellowship of kindred minds
Is like to that above.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for a great review and comments. I would imagine you have most of these character traits. My husband did and this meant our marriage lasted many years until his death. The last two lines meant he should believe in things that holds a families and other institutions together which to me means "ties that bind."

    Got it.
    I reread it.
Somehow, I missed something on the first read.

I like your man and that you have chosen to list his excellent qualities in descriptive verse. Good rhyming and flow. Well done. Good luck in the contest.

Oh yes. I absolutely love this. There was no choice of a six star review or it could have been all yours. An impressive piece of writing that personified all that I enjoy in a man. Very well expressed. Thankyou.

This is a very interesting answer to the question about what you like about a man. Your choice sounds very good. Rather like the one I married 55 years ago. You have good taste.
