That's a great dialogue piece, Wendy. I did see that one coming. Usually I don't, but it didn't take away the message. Do not judge, but if you do, make sure you know all the facts.

Thanks Paul. Glad you liked it - but I?m disappointed with my writing that you saw the ending before the end. Lol.

I might not have seen it if had been written by someone else. I think I'm getting to know you.

Yes, true. Let?s hope the voting committee doesn?t know me!

Somehow or another I had the ending figured out (somewhat) within the first few lines, though I did think the other man was the father. I suspect this happens in real life regularly.

Ah, then you didn?t quite have the ending figured. Lol. Thanks for reviewing, Tom. I appreciate it.

Nice one Wendy! How easily this sort of thing can happen in any setting and yet well meaning people particularly in church settings are notorious for jumping the gun without all the facts!! A funny read and excellent situation for the dialogue contest!!

Good story.
Looks to be a simple open and shut case of Suzy jumping to conclusions before knowing all the facts.

Nicely crafted for a dialogue only entry. You created it easy to follow.

Best of luck in the contest.

John

What a surprise ending! You had me going there with this sharp dialogue of an observant wife telling his husband, the pastor, what she suspects. I'm glad he set her straight. Great entry. Best of luck.

Hahaha. That is funny. Someone told my oldest son that I was a cougar coming to see him at work. He laughed so hard and said " dude, that's my mom." People do make all kinds of assumptions. Sometimes fiction is better than the truth it seems. Great dialogue only story. Gretchen

Yes, people jump to conclusions too quickly. My son always loved babies, always wanted to be a Dad, and adored his nephew. He now has three darling girls. Thanks for a super review, much appreciated.
    Love your story too!

I recognized Bella's name and immediately knew you were talking about her closeness to her brother. I'm sorry that the pastor's wife would think such a terrible thing about Bella! I'm glad she was set straight.
Great job with your dialogue-only story and you kept the suspense up until the final revelation at the end! Best wishes in the contest!

Thanks Helen, for your astute review. I have changed her name to Isabella, in case anyone else guesses before the end of the story. (And of course Bella is not my daughter?s real name, but I do use it for her in stories, because it gives her privacy, and I just do like the name.) They all now have a good laugh about it, and are great friends, but the pastor?s wife is still embarrassed about her assumption. My daughter said the other day that she was still shocked that anyone would think that of her!

I'm glad to hear that they are friends now. Great story to do in just dialogue!

I wondered where this story was going, Wendy. Sometimes, as in this story, the whole picture is not always obvious. You told the story well through dialogue, and it was a realistic conversation. Good luck in the contest. Cheers
