Debi...

How fun-and funny! Well done. Nothing like a good witty limerick to kick off the new year. Great image. Hilarious!

May your holiday celebrations and memories be joy-filled and enchanting for you and those you love...

Curt, I have enjoyed getting to know you this year and become good friends. Thanks so much for that. You are truly one in a million. (In the best way too)
I thank you so much for your very kind review for my limerick, and I appreciate all your thoughtful words. I think I may have already told you, but worth saying again, Merry Christmas to you and yours! Thanks again my dear friend!

A fine fun limerick, and I am sure everyone will relate to it in some or many ways. I've given up on making official resolutions - too discouraging, too much like hard work, and yes ... boring. Well done. Best wishes for your entry.

Ha, ha Debi!! Good thing you'll never bore me to tears so my next year is looking pretty good thanks!! I love this limerick. It is so apt for the New Year. We do make so many resolutions and it's so funny how December is my gorge myself month because my resolutions will kick in Jan 1 (which I may not have needed if I didn't gorge in December!). Thanks for the laugh Debi.

I gave up smoking in 1982. I gave up heavy drinking in 1999. I have not yet given up snacks and I may never do so. I cannot fit any of the sharp suits I used to wear that made me look like a fashion plate, and I do not even care. I am not trying to attract anyone so I will continue to enjoy the food that stretched my waistline. :)).

And this is why by January 5th of every year the thing I most want to give up is resolutions!

Love limericks and this theme is going to resonate with a whole lot of us who've repeated the same pledge to quit, get fit, without a snit! Sigh.

Being healthy can be so boring! Lol....

Great cartoon accompanies your limerick.
The limerick made me chuckle because I, too, gave up everything a couple years ago, especially sweets. And though I lost weight and feel better, that year was boring.

Lol. I love reading limericks, and this is a good one. The final line is humorous, but true. I look forward to a boring year. This year had too many unfortunate surprises to deal with. BTW, I quit smoking in 1996. I'm so glad.

Best wishes in the limerick contest.

I didn't quit until two days before new years right before 2020, but had no idea covid was coming ort might not have. How long does it take for it to quit smelling so good.? I'm not going to start again but after making it with the pandemic then I don't plan on it. It's too hard . Thanks my sweet friend for your kind words for my poem. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

When I quit smoking, I would stare at other people smoking. It was hard because I would have morning coffee and smoke. When I talked on the phone, I would light up. When I was upset, or sad, and especially when I was angry, it was cigarette time. It took me a few years to forget about it. But I'm glad I did.

Wow Dolly, I wished for you and there you were. I have a question for you Do you think that it hurt my poem any when the two shorter lines went from anapestic to amphibrach? Thanks for the lovely and kind words for my limerick. Merry Christmas to you and yours. And thank you for the help throughout the year, my very sweet friend! Love, Debi

Limericks are not easy and to make them tuneful we need to choose our words well. I thought yours flowed perfectly x x x

A slightly different take on "You may not live longer, but it will feel like it."

A very nice limerick that reads with the right amount of bounce for the genre. The words are simple. The humor is tongue-in-cheek. The considerations are real world. The images are clear.

Thanks for a good read.

Lol. At my age, I welcome "boring." I can't handle catastrophes or even wild adventures anymore. You met the rhyme scheme and humor of the limerick well. The meter switched from anapestic to amphibrach in the shorter lines. But the contest probably won't require it so Best Wishes - especially for Happily Boringly Healthy New Years to come!!
