The cheers, family and smiles are good and nice, but the ending to the day, is the best part. I bottle of Jim Beam for a job well done. A well crafted Christmas poetic story.
notes:
And it's then that I must choose{ â?"}

Thanks for the tip, Lance. I've had mixed reviews on the Jim Beam.

This is hilarious Paul, what a Christmas day you will be having! I could identify with almost every situation here and you made me laugh. Christmas day with family can certainly be a trial and retreating to your man cave is the icing on the cake! What a lot of fun this poem is, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Yes, indeed, this is Christmas and we often wonder why we do it. You have put it into verse with good rhyming and flow, these memories to be savored in later years when our nests are empty. Merry Christmas.

Thanks, Ginda. Our nest is empty of children, but grandchildren are filling in nicely.

LOL, Paul, I think you captured the "spirits" of the season very well. Cheers. We never had any kids, so I never had the big production you described, but you wrote the poem so well I felt I was there. Merry Christmas! Terry.

Super poem. Very nice and natural rhyming.
And it's then that I must choose â?" - ???
Detest might be a bit strong for the flavor of the poetry.
I am confident that Dad did not go to the basement and get drunk on Christmas morning.
Good luck in the contest.

Thanks fore the tips, Wayne. The last stanza was the only fictional part of the poem.
