We can dwell a little on the deaths of the people we can't do anything for, or we can honour their memory by paying homage to them, this is a beautifully written post Faith, well done, good luck, blessings Roy

Wow! Now that's a Christmas image. I got some snarly reviews for posting my poem about war crimes so close to Christmas. I wonder if people will say anything about this. Haha. I love it!
I have a pile just like that. My author of non-self-published books dream is there, with my baseball player dream (trouble with the curve).
Thank you for sharing.

How dare you make someone read that poem of yours by forcing them to click on it after reading the title, 'War Crime'! Lol, I couldn't stop laughing while reading your comment.

And seriously, not everyone is happy and sparkly at Christmas, and I bet a few Ukrainians might have a thing or two to say about war in their country so close to Christmas.

I've had a few comments on the picture, one who thought it was terrifying wanted to know where it was taken, but there was no information on that. The other one was freaked out by it but also told me he loved it. But I'm guessing people are seeing it and just passing it over. I did hesitate to post the poem, but I decided people probably wouldn't like it no matter when I posted it. But it's the end of the year, and I review my goals and work on ones for next year, so the poem fits the season, if only in my head.

I'm glad you could relate and liked the poem. Thank you so much for the six stars--you made my day. If I don't get to review anything else of yours before then, Merry Christmas, Thomas! May your day be filled with love and laughter!

Faith

Your bone picture freaks' me out. It got me to read your poem. I love it. That alone is worth the sixth star. Interesting analogy, the mind is a grave yard and bones old memories. Our dreams for the future handicapper by life's events that don't go our intended way. Good job.

You're not the only one to comment on the picture though it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for your kind words and the six stars. You made my day! I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment.

This is a clever idea for a four-line poem that follows the rules of the competition well. It reads smoothly but I must admit that I find it a bit depressing. It is, nevertheless, well written so I wish you good luck with it

Yes, it is a bit depressing. Sorry. Though I don't want to be that person who doesn't acknowledge all those feelings, you know? I always find it helpful to read other people's struggles and feelings because it lets me know I'm not crazy or alone.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment.

The power of metaphor! Your carefully chosen words, in this short verse hold a lifetime of stories. It really draws the reader in to reflect on their own graveyards. Well done.

That is a terrifying monument Faith, where on earth is that? A reminder of war no doubt and the hell we bring upon ourselves as human beings can be cruel and tormenting, a powerful write, love Dolly x

I got the picture from a free site, and there was no information where it was taken. Sorry. Thanks, Dolly, for taking the time to read and comment.

Oh yes!!! I agree so much that responsibilities often crowd out the dreams we once had. I so often think back and wonder what it might have been like if I had given some dreams a chance and shifted priorities. A great 4 line poem.

Super job with your 1-5-5-9 poem. At least the bones of the dreams remain and so it's possible to construct new dreams that still accommodate the responsibilities of life. Best wishes in the contest!

This four-line poem, In Memoriam, has the proper formatting and brings in account all those lives you may have lived if you had taken the time to live them.
