It's never a good idea to have too much to drink. I love a glass of wine or two with my meal, I live in Spain after all. But I know when to stop. Having said that, I think most of us have been in the situation you're so vividly describing here. Lol. Merry Christmas. Ulla:)))

I agree that there is danger and a measure of irresponsibility in drinking too much. We all would like to enjoy the company of family and friends- but wisely and with self control. Thank you for the reminder.

I liked the way you formatted the lines. I read the
lines in bold type-great and true story. The other
lines fit well with those, too. The image was perfect.
When read a complete poem, all the lines flowed
smoothly, told a great story, and offered the message
in the notes based on the words in your poem which
were well-chosen.

There are spirits that make you sick, and then there are those you find in church. Your poem of seasonal parties and over-indulgence is a good one - I enjoyed it. Asking the Vicar about his liquor supply was a great twist.
I love the image you used - the cocktail glass with the wording down the middle making up the stem.
