He was born and raised there. My father was a WW2 soldier and my mom his war bride. She worked as a nurse in London, but was born in Bourne.

You could be right. At first I was angry, then I remembered that my mom was only 21 and coming to America for the first time. It must have been overwhelming. Besides, who am I to judge her. Thanks so much for reading my poem.

Gosh I can't even imagine the depth of loss and yet finding such joy, pain and so many unanswered questions. Your poem is so heart-rending yet beautiful at the same time.
