It sorta took this 72 year old man here back to the good old days in the 50's and 60's when the "I lay me down to sleep prayer"s were common for children. I have a few children's books that I'd like to share with children here at: amazon.com/author/lgingleshortstoryrhymes
I appreciate your sharing. I enjoyed reading your writing here. Great Job!

Ciao poet!
You have your first vote!
I like your creative approach in this contest.
Yes kids have vivid imagination and often that imagination can play nasty tricks.
A branch scratching on the glass window can seem like nails of a monster , the wind howling like a werewolf, shadows on the wall , creeping floors demons come to haunt the list is long.
All monsters created in their minds but still capable to scare a child , make them tremble.
I like the idea of praying to the Lord for protection.

Short and sweet and really neat, I can imagine myself praying that way, way back when I was a lad of ten. The dark was mysterious, and my mind seriously threatened while in its grip until fatigue forced me to sleep.

"ten years old" should be ten year old's.
"bed time" should be bedtime.
Cute little promise that sounds like what a ten year old would say.
Who wants to sleep if monsters haunt them?

We can make some crazy prayers when monsters under the bed are involved. What a wonderfully written poem.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.
