Hello John,
Even though is short, your poem is thought-provoking.
Besides, the combination of your words and your picture make me happy.
The quote you've chosen for your notes is the perfect one.
Good luck in the contest.

You, as well.

Your word choice is awesome. Such a powerful statement and so few words. You didn't say who your artwork was from, but those broad stokes remind me of a Van Gogh painting.

Thank you for your review and kind words. I found the artwork on the internet. You're right; it does have a Van Goghish appearance.

This essence poem, Joy vs Happiness, has the proper formatting and allows that happiness is at odds with sorrow, where the Joy of God paves over all else.

I like your wording: "...the Joy of God paves over all else." It's a very vivid description. Thanks for your review and comments. John

This says so much with so few words, which should be the intent of these shorts. Some passages are forgettable and have meaning only to the writer, primarily due to not thinking out the words. Then some are wonderfully thought out and retainable. You have achieved the latter with high honors, John! Well done! Best, JohnC

Thank you, John. I try to convey my thoughts in few words. Sometimes, as a result, I'm not sure I've achieved my goal. Your review gave me confidence that I did in this case. I really appreciate your insight. John

You are so right! Happiness can be affected by external circumstances- and quickly disappear. On the other hand, joy is internal snd will not allow circumstances to touch it. We will smile through it all...

This is a good two-lined poem. The text is a great size. The message is clearly stated and is uplifting. There is always the opportunity for tomorrow to be a day of renewed joy. The visual fits well. Good luck in the contest.

You said a lot in your mere two lines, and that makes this a wonderful entry for the contest! I bet it will do well because even the accompanying artwork conveys a lot of creativity and sentiment. May you boogie down to the winner's circle!!

This is such a revelation! Joy and happiness can be easily exchanged, one replaced for another but I love this thought that you challenge in two shorts lines! Happiness is more an outward state perhaps that makes us smile and feel temporary satisfaction while pure joy knows an inner contentment and satisfaction that will not fade with tears and suffering and sorrow as it knows its true home and identity. Powerful!! I don't think 2 short lines could be improved in any way. The image is a wonderful accompaniment.

I don't think I have read a more eloquent or better explanation of my poem than you have just written. If I had to explain what I was trying to say, I could quote your review; that's how perfectly you have stated it. I'm truly grateful. John
