Your poem about the dangers and joys of snowy winter scenes is skillfully written and delightfully descriptive. As for snow, I'd like to see a pleasant medium between the little bit we get here in Mississippi and the six feet they got in New York.

I love our little enclave in western NC. We get one or two snow experiences in the winter months. Enough to enjoy the beauty of the landscape and then it melts away in a few days.

I loved the evocative feel of this. It's funny how some people hate the sight of snow and some love it. Kind of like the glass is half empty or half full. Your rhyming scheme was on point. I liked the visuals from your words. The beginning and ending lines brought it full circle. Gretchen

Gretchen, as a child I grew up in harsh long winters with many opportunities for sledding, skiing, skating. Now, I love our little enclave in western NC. We get one or two snow experiences in the winter months. Enough to enjoy the beauty of the landscape and then it melts away in a few days.

-Nice artwork and presentation.
-A well written poem with effective imagery,
rhyme, and repeating line.
-You paint a good word picture of the snowfall.
-I like how each verse is a different situation.
-You start with the people who have to drive in
adverse conditions, causing headaches and slipping and sliding.
-The children have the most fun, and you do a good job showing that.
-The last verse is more quiet and peaceful as a couple takes a walk
with their dog in the park and the white landscape.
-Well done.

Well done, J. You have adhered to the rhyme scheme required of the form, and also deftly wove in the first line as also the last line.

Your winter imagery and fun and not so fun of the snow season is well illustrated within three stanzas.

Excellent contribution to the Potlatch Club. :))

Sounds wonderful and nice. I used to engage with such before I discovered that Winter wonderlands were not really my cup of tea. I relocated to sunny Southern California and discovered that iced tea on a sun splashed patio was much more to my liking. So, here I am and here is probably where I shall forever reside.

The contrast between the childhood and adult experiences of snow is what got my attention in this poem. We see how much fun it is for the kids sledding and enjoying the magic of the snow, but also how much of a headache it is for the adults trying to drive around getting stuck on those snowy hills. estory

The author's words made me ponder on the excitement attached to a
snowstorm. I thought of New York and how my sons had so much fun!
It also made me think of the beauty of snow and the landscape. The artwork is awesome and compliments these words!
Happy Thanksgiving!....Maria

What a great upbeat poem about a season that can, to some of us, be threatening and unwelcome. I love the entire second stanza because it brings back my childhood days of wonderment and amazement at the wonderful piles and flows of beautiful white, slippery snow.

Great rhyming scheme, right in line with the requirements and still you kept it entertaining and easily read.

Good job

I am waiting for that first snow storm of the year. It look like Buffalo has just had theirs. I hope that is not a portent of what is in store for us in Maine.
