This is a good entry in the "Grandparent" contest. The writing is a great size. The story is clearly told. The care you received from your aunt and uncle is lovingly stated. The ending is perfect. You left the "d" out of Grandparents in your title and also in the text ~Granpa Claude. The visual also fits perfectly. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you, and thanks for the tips. I don't know how I missed that. I did write it late last night, and didn't go back and check it. My bad. I will correct.

Yes, if Grace and Claude were empty nesters then they were probably more than willing to become your grandparents. I hope this is a true story since it spilled over into my own heart as I wasn't close to my grandparents at all. They had other favorites and they did not get close to me when I could have used a good pair of grandparents to adjust to the misadventures of my parents and siblings.
Thanks for sharing this loving tale!
Jesse

Thank you. Yes, it is a true story. Grace and Claude did adopt one boy, but he didn't produce any grandkids for them.

I am so happy for you! You had loving grandparents to see you through those young years when your real grandparents were no longer around.

What a gorgeous tale of family and what it means to us. In reality, the exact relation is not what matters, only the joy we get out of it, and I think you evoke that positivity beautifully.

I very much enjoyed the read.

Thank you. My uncle died when I was young, but my aunt lived to over 100. I visited her in the nursing home and still called her Grandma.

I'm sure you did fill that gap for Grandma Grace, and it gave you that joy of being able to talk about your very own grandparents. I couldn't imagine my life as a child without mine in it. They are precious people. I really enjoyed your story, and wish you the best of luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Thank you. Yes, it really bothered me that other kids had granparents and I didn't. Aunt Grace filled the empty spot in my heart. I loved her a lot.

I thought this was a sweet memory that you have shared. I like how you tell it with a vocabulary that will also be comprehensible to younger readers. You did a good job with pacing. I have a couple of suggestions: My aunt never had biological children of her own, so I like to think perhaps I filled an empty spot in her heart too.
I would put a comma just after the word heart.
I had a grandma of my own now, and I think she was happy to have someone call her grandma.
I would capitalize the second use of Grandma there at the end of the sentence.
Thanks for posting.

This is a really sweet story that tells about the blessings to all three of you. Your aunt and uncle probably enjoyed being called grandparents and you were a winner by having someone to ask to be your grandparents. Best of luck in the Grandparents contest. This is a good contender.
