A good answer to the contest prompt. I like the unusual pet for which you wrote your 5-7-5. You added strong visual support with the poem. Good job. Wishing you luck in the contest.

I would agree that a snake is an animal. But it is ominous that the narrator says he is "stretched within" - does that mean within the pet boa?
Best wishes in the contest!

Yes it does. A true story- a person went to the vet and indicated that their pet boa was lying next to them fully stretched out. The vet said it is time to cage the boa or you'll be its next meal. The boa was 'sizing' up its victim.

Ciao!

Your poem was witty , but then that poor Indonesian woman that was swallowed by a python last week, came to mind.

The python squeezed her to death and then enjoyed his meal.

PS: I love watching National Geographic... boas squeeze to death their prey also but unlike pythons , a boa can not eat a person due to the width of the shoulders.

I don't fancy snakes , here we have poisonous vipers.

I know in America you have a long list of snakes . Yikes

That poor woman did come to mind and made me almost not write this. Australia has nine of the 10 most poisonous snakes on earth. No snakes in New Zealand. Figure that out.

This is a good entry to the Witty Animal 5-7-5 contest. The text is a great size. The message is clear, and the boa doesn't seem to be a great friend if you are now within. lol The visual fits perfectly. Good luck in the contest.

This works as long as you do not spell out all of the possible syllables of Bra- zil- li-an. It is quite alarming too - that's why I do not keep snakes.
Good luck with it

That's why it's rather funny, sad and true. Thanks for reading. I pronounce Brazilian as 3-syllables but heck, it's all in fun.

BTW, I did google the syllable count...it is 3.

Don't you hate it when that happens? Snakes seem to be big in this contest; I've read two others. What a wonderfully written poem.

Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.
