Beautiful description of the moonlight "painting black water" as "delicate, gossamer lace" ! I didn't have time for all the contest entries but am happy to know of your win!!

Congratulations, Melissa. You write these specialized
short forms so well. The picture was awesome. I gave
up on tanka a long time ago. I believe the site doesn't
use the same rules as what I learned--no reflection on
your poem.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Simply beautiful, your poem captures the evening with romance. It allows the reader to appreciate one of life's special moments. Much like a beautiful painting.
Congratulations it is no surprise you won.

This is one poetry format that is so much more complicated than it first appears -- I learned this from a poet who was simply marvelous. I miss his presence her.
You've done a wonderful job, I think -- I enjoyed it very much.

The sentiments here are delightful - a peaceful scene at night as the moon creates 'patterns of/ delicate gossamer lace' and the visual compliments the sentiments - has my vote

Terrific imagery for your Tanka contest entry. It has a Lune feeling for sure. To give more emphasis to the lines following "horizon," I would suggest a squiggle or dash to set off your next three lines.
I can almost feel how delicate your last line is!
You paired the artwork perfectly for your Tanka.
Overall presentation - superb!
