I haven't read a Tommy Thompson Mystery before. However, this chapter sounds like a great beginning of a personal mystery for the protagonist. I love the occult aspect of the story. The police force will be fighting against principalities. I can't wait to see how it's done. Interesting beginning. Best wishes in the contest.

This is a great story that starts with a personal, up-close death. Shocking and sad, but also reassuring in the way that Tom does not just go home a grieve, he decides to fight back by coming out of retirement (didn't catch his age) and actively participating in the search for his daughter's murderer (s).
Good, fast-moving narrative, and live, interesting characters.

This is a great story that starts with a personal, up-close death. I think the worst possible death that could happen would be the ritualistic death of one's daughter, I know my first thing I'd want would be justice, and the second would be if I carried it out, So this detective comes out of retirement to solve the murder, but my question is how old is he to have a 12-14 year old daughter?but the scene is set for a great story, well done, blessings Roy
