I have no clue how I missed this post, but I did. When chapter 2 came into my PM box I wondered about chapter 1 so looked it up before reading Chapter 2. I'm glad I did. I can't wait to get to the next chapter.

It wasn?t you. It was originally in the blind Murder We Wrote contest. When I realized it was the only book entry, I contacted Tom and withdrew it from the contest. That?s why you weren?t notified. That being said, so glad you are on board with this. I appreciate the time you took to catch up. The first chapter was rather long for the contest requirements. At least it was originally. It may have changed. Sending you my best today as always, and many thanks.

An awesome beginning to a new book. You have me on the edge of my seat! Realistic dialogue throughout. I'll be praying for you as you write this book involving demonic forces. A murder is an interesting way of bringing a detective out of retirement. Looking forward to reading the rest of the book. Blessings.

A lovely story, Sal. Had to chase this one down, as I read it intending to review, but not finding it when I was ready.
Sparkling in this chapter:
- I enjoyed the story immensely on a number of levels:
-Seeds of mystery planted right out of the gate,
-acuity and how observant qualities of the Detective, down to the maps, etc, and the proverbial writing on the wall.
-Ease of the lines
-How the stage is set for his passions, or obsessions like coffee
-And beautifully perceptive lines such as how the loss of youth affect the community.
Am happy to join this story at chapter one. A very enjoyable read. All the best, happy writing.

I didn't get a message about this posting, so I am glad I found it! A compelling story already. Is it true that they can accept people to do police/detective work without any formal training? Here that would never happen, and nor would anyone be permitted to work on a case involving a family memeber. Apart from that, I was fully engrossed in what promises to be an amazing story. Well done.

Thank you for coming by and for the review. Yes, people can be deputised on the spot. The Blind Girl was such a one in book two, Double Blind. Detective Mike Lembowsky deputized her and Jackson at the same time. I'm basing this on a true story of a father that solves this daughters crime after partnering with the police as a consultant. He know has a thriving business solving crimes, especially serial killings. Interesting, huh? Hang on, this is going to be a wild ride. Sending you my best today as always,

Wow, that is so different, but good. Sometimes it takes a fresh pair of eyes, and somebody emotionally involved will never give up..
Looking forward to more.

Great opening chapter to your new detective story, Sally. An emotional start with good descriptions and what immediately comes across as a good collection of characters. Looking forward to the next chapter, Sally.

Thank you so much for stopping by, dear Valda. This was originally in a blind contest and as the only book chapter. I had Tom remove it, and I reposted it as a book. For whatever reason, my followers weren't notified. Chapter two will post on a Monday and you'll be notified from now on. Sending you my best today as always,

Another good mystery story. Like the story and its characteristics (perhaps sex trafficking). You always have such a great descriptive setting. Until the next chapter, we will enjoy getting to know your characters.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate your kind review. I originally had this in a blind contest and I was the only book chapter. I had Tom remove it and posted it into a book. Chapter two will post on Monday and you should be notified if you follow me. This one will have a spiritual twist to the story line as alluded to in the first chapter. Sending you my best today as always,

Sally,
Alas, I am out of sixes. This one is fascinating. I really like that you have brought the spiritual warfare into it. The characters are developing nicely and you have set the stage for much more to come. Great job. A couple notes follow.

Sally,
I went back and took them again. Here they are. :-) On second reading I noticed that you used a lot of exclamation marks. You might want to consider changing some to periods so they don't lose their value.

I would have liked to know her age when the father is looking at her.
The cop's voice dogged me as I tripped along in a drug-induced nightmare. ? Was it really drug-induced, or did it feel like that?
More help arrived, and the blue lights flashing in the dark scalded my eyes. ? Very nice.
Phoebe Mae Thompson has passed, and her closest relationship ==> relative
It is the loss of our young ones that hurt our tight-knit community the most. ? typo ==> hurts
his breath expelling ? I think breath has to be expelled. I don't think it can expel.
I handed him the remains of the coffee, which he accepted with a nod, and drank it down in appreciation. ? I would eliminate it = drank down
I begged, holding up my badge. " I've come out of retirement ? extra space after quote mark
"He's both intelligent and insightful," I said, then added, "maybe we could persuade him to help us." ? I would cap Maybe (new sentence)

Wow, Sally, that was an amazing first chapter to your new book. I'm so glad I read it, and I'm certainly also going to follow along.
It must be the worst nightmare possible to find your young daughter murdered. I can't really imagine how it would be.
Now, To my surprise, I still had a six left and it is all yours.
Now, I will go all Scottish on you. "It's a dreicht nicht tonicht." Well, here it's not. We have almost summer weather. I'm sorry a hurricane is coming your way. A hug, Ulla xxx

Oh, thank you so much for the lovely review and generous stars! I?m hoping to get this book going and regain my footing. I think I learned my lesson the hard way putting it in a contest that seemed to be in a sea of contests. I really love a good book and especially mysteries. After I started this, I came upon a real life father in Texas that solved his daughter?s murder and joined up with the local law enforcement to solve cases linked to hers. He now has a thriving consulting business. Thank you, again! I am so blessed. It?s raining off and on and surely a dreich day here! Not cold yet though.
Sending you my best today as always,

A great first chapter for the new mystery. It was full of intrigue and mystery. The characters were immediately relatable due to the tie to Phoebe. I immediately empathized with the detective due to the relationship with Phoebe.
