Hello Jay,

Yes, I agree with you. Florida is a beautiful state, however, all the storms and ocean life keeps me away. A great place for for just a few days vacation, but don't hang around to long, especially this time of year.

They say that Ian will be the most destructive and costly hurricane in Florida's history.

Keep writing Jay...Take care...Bill

I agree. Stay where you feel at home rather than go to where the storms blow so hard people have to rebuild every year to stay there in Florida. You put it well in your favorite format and I applaud your decision to stay where you are.

Yes Florida has had a violent hurricane with so much damage - the poem reminds the reader of the beautiful location that is Florida-'once was where the snowbirds go'

Glad you weren't in Florida when the hurricane hit. I agree Jaybird, let's just stay where we are. It suits us all to a tee. Keep writing and I'll keep reading.

I'm not sure anywhere is safe from the growing instances of extreme weather, but perhaps there are still places to seek late life solace. Although as you say, the real trick is being satisfied with what you have.

I'm now( to ) old to make that change *too

My granddaughter lives in Florida but she is okay.

Wonderful poem. Good rhyme and meter. Nice presentation. Well done.

I just visited Ft. Myers last February and it's my favorite Florida city. We saw any beautiful birds like Anhinga, herons, egrets, and the ocean was very blue. I was looking at the price of a condo and it was expensive for a small ocean front one. I look down from the balcony and saw dolphins. I wanted to go back there and visit soon. Now it's a swamp. It's so sad.

Well done.

A well-rhymed poem that tells a little story about the hurricane ravaged Florida, and why your are content to live right where you do, even though you have family in Florida. I'm always glad to hear about your life and always enjoy reading your poetry, Jay. Keep writing. MM
***line nine has a small typo... (I'm not to (too) old to make that change)

Coastal areas are places I like to visit briefly, but I don't want to live there
because of the devastation wrought by storms! Your poem well expresses a satisfaction with where oyu are.

I totally agree. I grew up in Watertown, New York, 25 miles from the Canadian border and hated snow even when young. It's interesting that you point out Florida is now a place for young and old alike.
