When I read this, I have to say it should be a contender for the contests. I know many people who rejected masks and vaccinations based on some media (Fox) and others in politics who dismissed wearing masks or vaccinations.

thanks i have thought about this a lot. Here in Korea everyone has been wearing masks for decades due to the air pollution and yellow dust blowing in from China every spring.

by the media which was only an entertainment media source
in it for ratings.

I cosnidered [ considered ] early retirement as a badge of honor [ period needed here ] I considered myself a freedom fighter, and talked about it on Twitter, Facebook, Gab and everywhere I could find
right-wing cool [Kool] aide, and became an anti-mask zealot, screaming at people who wore masks in public. On more than one occasion I following [ followed ] Tucker's advice [and ] called CPS on parents who had their children wearing masks in public for suspected child abuse.

Your writing is descriptive, well constructed, and honest.
You successfully captured a deadly conclusion to a colossal mistake.
It is extremely unfortunate that people died in spite of mask mandates. If the mask was not politicised many would still alive today.
