I do write free verse, but generally speaking I'm an unrepentant rhymer, that the way I grew up with ancient poets shining a light on rhyme. The versers claim that free verse sets words free, but they don't seem to be able t write rhyme anyway, hail rhymes. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

I can't disagree with much here, and I always love your rhymed and metered sonnets and other poems. I write mostly in rhyme myself, but I have learned so much about free verse and now I love it too. It can be very musical and beautiful when done properly. But this poem is all about your opinion and I think you've done a truly wonderful job of expressing your love for sonnets. You continue to write what you enjoy and we will continue to enjoy what you write. ;p MM

I have to agree with you, buddy. A few years back, I discovered that publishers today don't want rhyming poems. Rhymes are not "in". They're definitely out. They look for free verse poems, and I can't understand it. It boggles my mind. A good poem should rhyme. I'm with you on this.

I couldn't agree more with your words in this one. I never could understand how free verse could possibly be classified as poetry. If it doesn't rhyme in one way or another, it's not poetry in my opinion.

There is a contagious foot tap to a well metered poem... And the rhymes never fail to draw me in, lyrical as they make a poem!
I love free verse as well....
But, when reading your work, I'm especially fond of your sonnets!
