I've never been a big fan of reading poems or short stories about writing. However, I do like this one. I think you did well with the rhyming words and having them not overtake the whole poem.

Ah yes, the great divide between free verse and traditional rhymed poetry.
I'm on your side. While rhyme is much preferred on fanstay, alas in today's world, prose is much the vogue, and preferred by most editors.
But the pendulum is always in swing, rhyme will one day rise to its previous
perch atop the world of poetry.
Excellent rhyme and meter, and solid examples.

Good one, dear JayBird1. I truly enjoy poems and statements that rhyme as they flow like music watering the soul of man, blooming with beautiful flowers of joy. In all these, I tend to feel that free verse is more action packed and entertaining when properly put together. Well done, and please keep them coming.

Like you, I have a difficult time reading and writing free verse. It's either rhymed poetry or plain prose for me - free verse seems to be neither. Thank you for putting these thoughts into words - with rhyme!

a nice meta-poem that advocates poetry should recover the old values of rhythm and rhyme, much of which has been lost in the modern era of mostly free verse poetry. I am not sure I agree but you state it well.
