A fun idiom that ends up being a metaphor: ""Whoa! You hold your horses right there and back your teeny little tail end up!" The issue you raise seems to be the idea of double standard. Cody is learning about that early.

To this day Cody remains the ONLY character on FanStory that has been permanently banned from ALL contests by the committee that allows what entries will be permitted to be entered into member-created, blind and not blind, contests. If that is not a double standard full of favoritism tell me what is. Also, tell me how that is a fair decision that should be applied to any member? Now, if all members who enter the same character in multiple contests received the same decision perhaps this site's contests would be on a more even playing field.

There are only edicts.

Also, no mention of mandible can be allowed as many would instantly associate that with "Jaws". Oh, yes...and to level the playing field please identify the body of water as a small pond... Considering the poems allowed as story submissions, the personal journal entries accepted as "Flash Fiction" and the rest...

My sentiments exactly.
That is why I told the CEC to buzz off.
I have no intention of being singled out by them as I am sure other members have entered the same character in more than one contest.
They can go play their favoritism games with those willing to humor them. I am not.
Nor will I change Cody's picture and his name on some whim the CEC has, and especially after all the writing and effort I have put in to creating, and building him, to what he is today.
Appreciate the review.

Last year I entered a Family Story about Christmas, based on our family gathering to be held on Christmas Eve, the only time we could all get together. The reason? It wasn't Christmas, as Christmas "hadn't happened yet, and you can't write about something that hasn't happened!" I wrote it four days earlier. Really?! Where I live, Christmas lasts longer than Dec 25th!
Hope your point is taken. But there is no opportunity for reasoned discussion. Was it a Family Story contest you were disqualified for?

I felt after writing 6 books, several Short Stories, entering Cody in previous contests without ever being questioned before, and a live stage performance here in Nashville about him, the CEC was way out of line to tell me I had to not only change the picture he is known on FanStory by, but also change his name. No way that will happen.

Seems the CEC fancies themselves too big for their britches.
After 6 books, multiple Short Stories, and a live stage production here in Nashville featuring Cody, I am not about to change his picture or his name.
Not going to happen.
What gets me in addition is I have entered him, and the same picture, in other contests on FanStory without any hoopla.
Explain that one if you can.

I am guessing this was a secret contest where the author to be unknown. If that's the case the picture and the child's name would've been known so it wasn't secret. If that is the case, then I have no idea it was kicked out. I am sorry this happened to you.

I don't know who CEC is but the contests in this place have always been rigged. Not sure what the contest was/ is but can't you see why I never enter them or very rarely, anyway. Good seeing Cody's dial on FS again.

I have entered Cody in other contests with no questions asked.
When the CEC demanded I change not only his picture, but also his name, because so many members of FanStory know him, that was where I drew the line and in my response told them to buzz off!

There is no way will I change Cody's picture, or his name, simply because of the CEC.
And, yes, I am sure I will enter him in an upcoming contest.
Could not believe they gave me a warning because Cody is popular, and easily recognized, by many FanStorians.
After 6 books, multiple Short Stories, and a Live Theatre production here in Nashville, have worked too hard to change him now.
