I'm sorry you have regrets on being a father. It is a special position and name, and to be a good mother or father takes practice and lots of love and grace, and on both sides.

Sending you my best today as always,
Sal XOs

With your wisdom I find it hard to believe that your thoughts of yourself are a bit too strong. I feel you'd be a terrific dad. You have compassion, understand human behaviour, have a great sense of humor and it makes me sad that you are missing these parts of you.
Being a parent comes with many mistakes but there is no mistake for loving a child, and growing beside your child's growth is where a parent should be, not how many toys they have.
I am hoping you can shake off past mistakes and be at peace with the man you became, so many never become a man, ever.

Jaybird, This is a very well written poem about being a father all over again. I know from being a mother to three boys I did the best I knew to do. I should have read the Bible more because that was the only instructon book I needed. Blessings Teri

As someone who had an absent father for most of my life, this piece honestly made me emotional. It warms my heart that there are fathers out there who feel some sort of guilt or regret. Fathers are not perfect, no, but the effort is what makes the difference.

I really enjoyed this piece and it made me think of my own father as he has expressed this sentiment to me time and time again. As the child in this situation, I can assure you, once the child becomes the parent- the child quickly sees your intentions more clearly. Good job!

Being a parent is a difficult task and we can only try our best, at the time. I think we can all look back and feel we could have done some things differently, jaybird. A thoughtful poem,

I think trying to guide or role-model for anyone is a massively difficult task, because it requires us to show or weaknesses and failings in the process. It becomes a two-way street, and we have to accept it to prosper.

You're a good man. You are who you are... Surely not everything was perfect, but parenthood is trial and error for everybody. I have convinced myself of that, however, I am not yet a married woman with child. So... You did what was best at the time. Good work :)

another powerful and moving traditional sonnet about fatherhood, and all of its joys and sorrows. as usual you mastered the traditional verse format.
