I absolutely love butterflies. What a beautifully written poem. It has a nice flow and rhyme scheme. Very well done. Very beautiful photo to compliment your words as well. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for your review. My mother always loved butterflies and there were always pictures of them throughout our house. Yes I was lucky with the photo. Did not place in the contest but no worries. Glad you enjoyed it.

This poem speaks to the shortness of life, and the importance of enjoying the time that one is given.
The butterfly symbolism is very effective in conveying the message.
The image accompanying the poem is a perfect fit.
Great job.

Sharon,
Thanks for taking time to read and review my poem. Glad you liked it and I was so happy to find the accompanying art work within Fan Art. Have a great day and take care.

Your poem expresses an interesting thought...a beautiful butterfly living only one day. Of course we know butterflies live longer. The adult Monarch butterfly for instance, lives 2 to 6 weeks. Others have varying life spans. Your poem rhymes nicely and your artwork pairs perfectly. Best wishes in the contest.

Truly, their lives are brief but the bring joy to the beholder just by their being. They are pollinators and help continue the cycles of life during their brief time with us.
A joy to read your poem.
Blessings

Butterflies only last for two weeks and then they die. They have a short life span. Birds live a little longer than that. Excellent work! Thank you for sharing! Nice job!

Raul,
Thanks for taking time to read and review my poem.Yes a short life they do have but they bring joy to many. My father did not like the Cabbage butterfly as it left his vegetables a little worse for wear. He always seemed to loose his battle with them. Glad you enjoyed the poem and take care.

You're welcome! Butterflies do make me happy and to all.

Your poem is very well written, and you do ask a very provocative question. I think it could do well in the Rhyme it contest. I don't know how important it is in the big scheme of things, but butterflies live longer than a day, several weeks for most, several months for others, and up to a year for a few. Terry.

Terry,
Thanks for taking the time to read and review my poem. Yes I accept that butterflies do live longer than a day but used it more for impact. Glad you enjoyed it and whilst it did not win the day I am delighted with the response from others such as yourself.
Take Care

This is a great example of classic pastoral romanticism. It really is right in the playbook of poets of Blake, Landor and Shelley. The repeating phrasing created some great echoing effects, the rhyme scheme did the same, and the cadence and meter was soft and flowing and quite mellow. It also spoke on this theme of imperfection in experience that is at the center of romantic philosophy, the fact that there is beauty in the world but that it is fleeting, that experiences can be exhilerating but that they don't last long. estory

This a thought-provoking poem, beautifully written to appreciate the beauty of the butterfly but also ask the question of what would one do if they only had that one day, like the butterfly.
I enjoyed reading and the question.
Best wishes,
Mary

What a provocative question you ask...
What would do you if you had one day to live?
That will make for interesting dinner conversation:)
I appreciate the presentation as it mirrors the sentiment left.
The image sets the tone immediately guiding the reader down the page.
Your writing is descriptive, and uses rhymes to create a tempo that flows like liquid.
I also like that you added your faith into it, a nice touch at the poems end.

I guess the butterfly has a definite purpose, as all God's creatures, they form a quite definite part in the ecological scheme of things, but they are very beautiful creatures, and beautify the scene. This is beautifully written dear friend, blessings Roy
