Do you mean we're not supposed to eat the candy in a selfless parental concern over our children's dental health? Nobody sent me THAT memo!
I enjoyed this AND I left a review last night---long story but my computer is ten thousand years old (give or take a Halloween)---and every darn time I hit "save" my reviews went POOF! Like a spooky trick! Congrats on second place, sorry for being late with this review (assuming it goes through this time!)

I know my son, who is a Peanut butter cup fiend, always confiscates his kiddo's Reese's products ~~ you know, just in case they have developed a peanut allergy! What a guy!

I love everything about this poem and think it's the top of the tier in the group! It's well put together visually and immediately caught my eye, the font was fun and read with ease, the photo was funny yet relatable, rhyme scheme is fun and on point with great rhythm, and the entire story encompassed within so many people can relate to whether they be the kids who have experienced those sorts of last moment creative costumes or the parent who had to make due with what they've got. Excellent poem! Top vote for me hands down!

"Is It Halloween Again?"
I like how you wrote this and in such a shameful and cruel way.
Yes, and when it comes to forgetting the holiday.
I like how you go back and forth trying to figure out how to repair the damages.
Yes but each time you're getting the sneers from your children!
Yes, looking at you like you have a head of cabbage!
I was just thinking about the temperature each Halloween here in South Jersey.
And it usually announces the beginning coldness of the Winter.
Note: Next time don't eat all the candy!

Lol. A very clever poem for Hallowe'en, and well written. I can see the kids rolling their eyes at the failings of the mother, and read their thoughts when she eats their treats. Well done. Best wishes for your entry in the contest.

Shame, shame, shame. You gots to have that candy for the little demons.
P2, s1: MAYBE (eyes) instead of (eye)
P5, s4: (gitter's) should be (glitter's) (from the first stanza )
P8, s2: (snack sized) should be (snack-sized) Hyphen
Halloween is close to my favorite holiday. I probably go overboard. I give out sandwich bags stuffed full of candy of all kinds and varieties. But I am in an area where we only three or four neighborhood kids anyway.

Thanks so much for reading my poem and for the corrections...punctuation has never been my strong suit. :)

What a fun poem you wrote. I appreciated the humor in the words, as well as the picture. My daughter still tells me I had no imagination for costumes for her when she was little. She was right!

Thank you for reading my poem and for this nice review. My kids tell me the same thing. Hahaha!

What a poem and what a mom! This poem was fun because we have all dressed our kids in homemade costumes at least one Halloween. The text was large and easy to read. The rhyme scheme worked. The visual fits the text well. Good luck in the contest.

No, it's still over a month away. Don't be buying any apples just yet!
Cute little aabb rhyming poem from the point of view of a forgetful Mom. dare I say that with all the advertising that precedes the occasion there is not really any chance of any mother forgetting, especially since the kids will be passing on the advertisers' messages with some force.
We have never really celebrated this particular day here in new Zealand, although it has got its foot in the door and has been shoving hard over the last couple of years. Thankfully, I live way out in the country so I'm not likely to get any scary visitors...
