E story,
Your excellent poem connects well and makes a good point.
Virtual reality has its good points, in moderation.
Our imaginations can take us to all these places as well. We shouldn't need computers or virtual reality to take us there.
I like the points you make in this excellent poem.
Good luck.
Blessings,
Cindy

You have conveyed a powerful message about the exciting--but unreal--
through a wide range of examples. I do see the tongue-in-cheek humor and the message about the sadness of it all.

I enjoyed reading this verse because of the topic.

Very relevant in today's world. I have two teenagers and I have to monitor screen time because if I do not, hours and hours can be lost in the internet and gaming.

It is truly a scary enterprise!!
It is impossible to eradicate at this point.
People are just going to get deeper and deeper into it.

I think for the introverts out there, it must be enjoyable to travel the world, look like anyone you want, build your own reality completely different than the one you live in.

What will be the ultimate consequence?

I found this interesting, even though I am sadly lacking in knowledge of Jack Anderson and Zuckerberg. So my comments are possibly at odds with your intentions. But I give you my assurance that I believe in, and indeed live in, a virtual world. No need for social media, no need for pre-existing images. The elements of my world are all within my mind, that I mine with a pencil and spread on a computer screen or a sheet of paper for my amusement or education. Kate xx

Thanks for the excellent review and for your comments on this subject. I like living in the real world. We were made for that, not the virtual world. estory

Interesting poem! I went off to read a bit of Jack Anderson (so thanks for that reference!)--

It is a wry tone, and a worrisome reality, in this virtual world. As we become less and less connected and more able to create our own "virtual" existence one wonders what becomes of true human interaction.

To lean on an old saying -- It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

I found this a very interesting and thought provoking read. Very enjoyable but to me it didn't seem like poetry or prose but hey ... What do I know. All the best. Jen.

Thanks for the excellent review and your comments on this poem. prose poetry is a reletivly new concept, born out of free verse. It is really about conversational writing, and the cadance and repetitions of phrasing creates the rhythm and echoing musical effects. Read Jack Anderson's book The Clouds of that Country. Especially Cafeterias, The Mysterious Sound and Meditation on Christian Science Reading Rooms. estory

This is an interesting look on the direction our life seems to be going, estory, and it works well in this style of poetry. There are days when I wish I could live in virtual reality, I must admit. But it would soon get boring, I think. Good job.

I thought the first paragraph was going to lead to a humdrum work, but it didn't. The way I see it line three was superfluous. After that I found a rhythm and enjoyed it. Welcome back, I guess. We'll have to wait and see.

Hi estory, I liked your wry poem about virtual reality. You are really good at this form. It might be fun to try virtual reality, but that doesn't stop it from being a poor substitute for the real thing. But the world is moving so fast, so who knows? Ulla:)))

A well-expressed and thoughtful piece. Yes, it is a parallel world, but not comparable to the real world, which still has many advantages, including the value of positive interactions and meaningful relationships! I see the wry humour, and hope we can all remain free to choose and experience our reality.
