Black Thoughts

We're not our thoughts, but they can be heavy sometimes.

I think the most important thing about daily writes is writing how you feel because to write is to heal, I find. Sometimes we do need to escape the thoughts whirling around. Good luck with the dailyom writes, Heather.
Cheers

Escaping our thoughts is very important, but not always easy. I try to be mindful, but I don't always manage.
    Thanks for reading, Valda.

This definitely was a great haiku, Heather. I loved the picture of the brain tossing confetti or fireworks around. I really appreciated your words because they showed the conflict that one deals with.

Those are dark thoughts and sometimes we do need to escape our minds, but we are what we are and need to find our ways to healing. I suck at poetic forms, so I can't comment on the haiku itself. Evi

I also suck at poetry, so don't worry. :)
    Thanks so much for reading.

This is a well-conceived haiku. The message is clearly presented. The visual is just okay. I find it too cutesy for such a serious topic. The font size is also too small. The text needs to be larger for the older readers on this site. Good luck in your class.

    Hi Sandra,
I was having problems with the advanced editor so I switched to Chrome and now I've been able to make the font bigger.
As for the image, I chose it on purpose not to make my post to depressing, especially because I have just written another sad one. x

Glad you got the text size issue resolved. I never consider adding a cute photo to a serious poem. However, if that works for you, I accept your choice. I write a lot of dark poems.

I find it funny, but you and I never seem to agree on the choice of picture. Anyway, it's always good to hear a different opinion. Thanks. xxx

Haha...We need not agree. We only need to respect each other. I write quite dark poetry and from your pic I am much older than you. I happen to like my visuals to match the tone/mood of the poem. Good luck!

Respect is the most important thing and I have to say I like you.
I'm turning 58 on 23th. That picture was taken last summer. My kids think I'm ancient. And I guess my students do too.

Thank you! I will be 68 in November. Children always think we are ancient until they reach our age. LOL Hope you and your students have a great school year. I am a retired educator.

Our ages aren't so far apart then.
My eldest son is 32, my daughter 27, but my youngest is 18. When he was little he used to say we should have had him earlier because we'd probably die when he was still very young...
I hope the course goes well too. The last two courses have been tough.

My daughter would be 38 if she was alive. She died at 22. Be blessed. Thanks for the chat.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Sandra. It must be absolutely devastating to lose a child. xxx

It's a good reminder that our thoughts can dictate how we perceive life in general. Even in physical activities such as sports, where we focus will affect how our bodies move. Good motivational 5-7-5!

You're so right. I wish I was able to quieten my thoughts and it happens when I'm feeling well. On some days it's more difficult.
    Thanks for reading.
