Do people sometimes look weird at you for having met so many famous people or at least some bizarre people? I believe there are some people who are magnets to celebrities and such. My husband is one of them. He starts telling a person his stories like yours and give him that 'look'. And I believe the reason this happens to him is because he will talk with anyone at any time. He needs to write about his life. Maybe I will.
Anyway, sorry for rambling on about my husband: this is your review! I agree with you about this country's lack of fighting for our freedom, but unfortunately the oligarchs are taking it faster than we can keep up with it. It's past time people wake up and do something about it, but so many are oblivious and when everything collapses, they will be confused of how that happened. Well-written as always. -Wanda

Wanda, thank you very much for your wonderful review and the six stars. The reason I met a lot of famous or at least well-known people, and trust me I haven't mentioned half of them, is that I worked for the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association for twelve years. I then went into business with some successful doctors who treated a lot of well-known folks, and we ended up in business with several of them. Thank you, Terry.

Amen to that last part. It is amazing to look back at what we aspired to be when everything was a fantasy. Your memoirs are very captivating. You remind the reader to look back at what shaped them as well. Beautiful. Gretchen

It seems as though every generation has taken us further away from the truth of who we used to be. Remember "In God We Trust?" How wonderful it was to live in this country back then? What has happened to the American dream? Well done, Terry. Nancy:)

Nancy, thank you for reading and for your review. Your comment reminds of a sign I have seen in a restaurant. "In God we Trust, everybody pays cash!" Terry.

I happen to agree. The United States of America stands for freedom. I can't wait until we remember that and get back to that fact. Thank you for sharing this post with us. It was a good read.

I love your last line!!!! It does make the story in so many ways by enhancing your various childhood ambitions all the way to the moral of the piece. Did not find even on spag and I enjoyed the read. ann

Nicely written.
You will probably get some political commentary, not necessarily criticism, but a lot of declarations of positions. I'm trying real hard to refrain. My fingers are rebelling and I'm forcing the backspace button. So far, I'm winning against me.
Best wishes.
(There, I won.)

Amen! Virtual six, Terry! I'm so glad you showed us that we can be good Americans, supporting the best candidates, and not be tied to one political party. I'm also glad you were safe in that accident. Yes, I looked up Lyda Hill and that's amazing, too. You sure knew all the famous people in Texas!

You can make political theory entertaining...
that's not taught in any school...you either have that "way with words" or you don't!

We are close enough in age that I followed along nicely...

Tricky Dick could never have earned my vote... (Not that he worried, because I was too young to vote.)

JFK? Well, I went to Sacred Heart School and he was Catholic so our nuns prevailed upon us to tell our parents they MUST vote for him!

How cool that you knew Laura Lane Welch! You had your chance! Ah, but George got her and you got Zoe! (Wise choice!)

We've lost our way, it seems. I fear for our Democracy.

When some votes are delegitimized all votes are "unsettled."

I'm praying for a course correction!

Super entertaining read!

Karenina

Free at last. What one has gained another has lost. All one need do is view the ads hour after hour. Each has minorities, LB>.. whatever, trans and a minimum of white actors. Add into the populous what is coming into the country from abroad and being supported by the left and the margins of victory will become unwinnable for the right wingers.

I would have given this a 6 rating, happily, as I enjoyed it very much except for the minefield of names. I didn't mind googling to meet the sportsmen Mickey Mantle and Jim Brown. (You even asked us to in the case of Lyda Hill -justified). Even I know JFK, so that was okay, but who on earth are Laura and HHH? I don't see how I can get a handle on them. I wonder how many others on my side of the pond are scratching their heads today? Kate xx

Kate, thank you for reading. I get it too much American slang. Laura Welch, the girl I knew in jr. high and high school, married George W. Bush. HHH was Hubert Humphrey, VP of US, and lost to Richard Nixon in the Presidental election of 1968
