"Mrs. Sports" is an exceptional and funny poem in seven quatrains of tetrameter. Lighthearted poems benefit from the lilt that can be present in tetrameter, and Mrs. Foor possesses in valiant language skills more than what she lacks in athletics. The honest narrator in this poem encounters the world with confidence, intelligence, and good will, and gets a black eye for her graces - an ironic outcome that captures what life often delivers to aspiration.

This poem brought a smile to my lips. I'm going to become a grandfather for the first time in a few weeks. I'm looking forward to these awkward moments.

Thank you Charles for the thoughtful review and congratulation on becoming a grandfather soon. I once read, "if I'd known being a grandparent would be so much fun, I'd have had my grandchildren first". (smile)

Oh, dear! I didn't see the black eye when I first looked at the picture, but on second glance there it was. You are a trooper joining when and where you can. I enjoyed the poem.
Thank you for sharing.

Any grandma with a shiner like the one you got, shines like a star in my book, Janet. :) The problem with you not catching the high-thrown ball is that the sun got in your eyes. You may not have the DNA gene, but you passed it on anyway. :) Thank you for sharing the sport war story.

This is a delightful story. I remember playing baseball as a kid, but I never really liked it. I enjoy watching the kids play though. This is a terrific story, best of luckbin the contest. :)

I have no sporting genes in body .I watch world cup finals and the only sports I like(not love) is tennis .I like to see it fr thesheer graceful movements of the player...
Congratulations for your grandchildren's achievements. I am sure you are one proud grandma.

Wow! This is a well-told narrative poem. The story is well-written, and the author's notes fill in the rest not told. The font size is large and easy to read. The visual fits perfectly. Is that you and your grandson? Good luck in the contest.
