The flash fiction story Voice Mail is told by a man who receives three voice messages from a misdialing caller who is trying to reach her extra-marital lover, Dudley, saying she has changed her mind, wants to leave her husband, and asks where to meet him. On the third voicemail, the caller says her husband has overheard her and told her to get out of the house.

So, to review, this woman is: 1) Too stupid to type Dudley's correct phone number into her contact list; 2) Too stupid to talk to her lover where her husband can't hear it; 3) Too stupid to just send cryptic text messages, which cannot be overheard. I guess she deserved whatever she got.

Interesting concept. Three are a few things that would make the average reader question some things from the beginning. Turning the phone off, instead of silencing it? Clear this person has voice mail, but no greeting. The woman has been with this but doesn't know his actual phone number?
most numbers have a name attached now a days, so this would have better ten years ago or more.

Is this revenge or spite?

This is a very original and engaging story, perfectly written. It has a little twist in that the revenge is exacted on all womanhood, not the specific offender. This contest is not my cup of tea, because I don't believe in vengeance, and even a fictional act of revenge makes me cringe. However, you stand a good chance of winning the contest. The conversational nature of the story plays well with the telephone being the antagonist.
