You have done a really good job of outlining a brief history of Elvis, while making it known that not all of America fell in love with him. My mother didn't care for him, but allowed my sisters and I to watch him on Ed Sullivan's show. However, we were not allow to sing any of his songs. This month marks the anniversary of his death, and you've provided a fitting tribute with a creative bit of information about your mother. Well done. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you. My mother didn't allow us to listen to, or watch Elvis in our home. Hugs.

You did a great job, Mystery Author, sharing your mother's
opinion about Elvis Presley (and that of many others). Your
story was well organized with great facts. I remember reading
about how the media banned him for his dace moves. He was
still popular despite all the negativity. Yes, he died too young,
but his music legacy lives on.

Thank you for reading and commenting. I remember the extreme dislike of the older generation. Hugs.

I loved this piece. I was a little girl in the fifties and remember much of what you wrote about. He didn't appeal to me, even through the sixties in high school. I though he was a "greaser" and that his movies were dumb. It wasn't until I matured that I began to appreciate his music and all the reasons why he was "The King."

I like some of Elvis's music, but I agree with you on the man himself. Johnny Cash was, and still is, my favorite singer of those times. I had a crush on Johnny when I was around twelve. Thank you for reading and commenting. Hugs.

You are welcome. When I was older, I was enchanted with Elvis. I kind of grew into him. :-)

This sounds like something my grandmother and mother in law would have said. Elvis was handsome and could sing, but he could not dance. Had he learned to dance with the right moves, they would have banned him. My dad was jealous of him. We could not have his picture on the wall at our house. Dad ripped him off the wall. One time was enough for us to know not to get another one.
Thank you for sharing.

Thank you. My dad never said much about Elvis but I'm sure he didn't like him. He was never my favorite singer either. Hugs
