I'm late getting to this one, Beth, but I wanted to see how things worked out. The bit about your irregular heart rate especially interested me, because I have one too. It doesn't often bother me enough to make me feel faint, but I've never tried massaging the artery. Good tip to try.:)

I've known quite a few people with the problem. I have to put pressure on the pulse on the left side of my neck. Now I take a half of an Atenolol tablet every day and I don't have them any more.

Hi Beth, I do think I'm up to scratch now. I enjoyed reading this a lot, and I must admit I was as surprised as the doctor that you could self help your palpitations. Amazing! Ulla:)))

Thank you. I don't know if you read that nightrip to Mississippi for the wedding but don't go back if you didn't. They aren't active any more. You need time to get Lorenzo story out.

I do. I'm so behind with everything as you can imagine.

This chapter contained a lot of good information, Beth, about
the wedding and the hospital stay for your dad. It sounded like
a busy time. The car rental seemed to be a hassle. I'm happy
things worked out as best they could. Your health issue was scary
to read. I'm amazed how you could 'fix it' yourself. This was a bit
more relaxed chapter even with the health issues of your dad.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thank you Jan. I appreciate the review and the comments. It was a relief to be able to relax a little have the intense three days we had just gone. If Dad's operation hadn't gone well it would have been almost too much to handle.

A good read. Some Notes:

-At least the rental car company offered something as a discount for the flat tire. These days offers like that can be rare to come by.

-Liked the line "never trust a movie for medical advice."

-No comma (,) needed between "visit" and "mom's sister."

-Seemed Connie's honeymoon went fairly well.

-The German doctor sounded like his attitude was "my way or the highway."

Thank you for the excellent review. I enjoyed reading your comments. You are correct about the doctor. He wasn't one to play around. It was do as I say are move on. He also kept us waiting long after our appointment time.

Let Dad think so awkward, Doctor Perry was not happy, Doctor knew what was happening with his heart, you had to bring Dad back, checking was needed, things went normal, but health never went fit; anxiety goes on; well said, well done, post god speed more, share post not 4 self-joy-pride but 4 God and readers worldwide Alcreator Litt Dear (DR)

Cancun sounds like a great beach to visit if we don't really need clothes, of course, it could get a little embarrassing. LOL. Just being that silly old me. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the review. Maybe I should have said not a lot of clothes, but I wasn't there. Cancun might be liberal enough to be totally nude. My daughter didn't elaborate.

Poor Aunt Chris. Some men leave their spouses when the 'worse' happens. Did Vicki have to get a job to pay for the nursing home? Interesting about your being able to change your heartbeat. I love to stump doctors. LOL
Seems you and your father are both stubborn when it comes to following doctor's orders!

Thank you for your review and comments. I don't know but they may have taken her in for her Social Security. Keith did visit her occasionally. I think got a job to support herself. You're the second reviewer that said I was stubborn, but it paid off because I for a inexpensive medicine that keeps me from having palpitations. I also refused to get a hysterotomy and stopped having problems when I got on estrogen.

Your dad sounds very much like my dad. LOL I loved him dearly, but he was an ornery old fart. Thank you for sharing these memoirs with us.

He convinced himself that no one lives over two years after getting one. (you can omit 'that')

Thank you Barbara. It does sound as though your dad and mine were a lot alike. One of the reviewers told me I'm a stubborn woman probably just like my dad. lol Gee, I hope not.

Oh my goodness! What an exhausting time after such a stressful wedding. I can't believe Connie used your credit card. I guess you allowed it. So much headache for you and for caring for your dad. No wonder you had irregular heartbeats! Today we can do the EKG using our cellphones and the Kardiamobile app.

Comment/Question:
champaign to their room. (champagne)
When we'd gotten to Memorial, (name of the hospital?)

Thank you for the review. Yes, we let Connie use the credit card for an emergency since they had little money. I think she may have paid us back. Connie has had a pace maker for nearly twenty years and she goes in occasionally to have it checked. For a while she came to my house to check it because we had a home phone but the need to do that changed.

Your life was certainly stressful, Beth. No wonder your heart used to race. I've not heard of the heart operation your doctor was suggesting, and I think I'd want to think it over, too. Did you ever get it done? That wasn't nice of Keith to leave his mother with his wife and move in with another woman. Well, no wonder you were happy to put the wedding behind you, it wasn't a relaxed pleasurable time, was it, considering all the things that went wrong. Now I'll be waiting to see what else you have to deal with! Well done, m y friend. :)) Sandra xx

Thank you Sandra. The heart surgery I mentioned is pretty common, but you can die from it and it doesn't always work. I found a tiny pill that I can take that has kept my heart from going into palpitations for over 7 years now.

That's good. I'm not sure I like the odds with that surgery! :)) xx
