The message in your piece is that no matter what a concerned mother does it is futile? No protestations can ever re-direct what is going to or already has happened? Personally, I greatly fear the wrath of a woman who fears she has been violated in any manner. Women rule!

I like the piece but am a bit confused on the intended message.

Thanks for reading and rating my poem. For me it is a poem about betrayal. It is a poem against mothers who in the public arena's state " I'll never let that happen to my child." However, when it does if the mother loves the new boyfriend, husband or male she covers for him. I mentioned that in my author's notes. The contest is about betrayal.

This is a powerful poem that addresses a serious problem. One that I never understood. You do a good job of writing about a sensitive subject. Well done.

"Mother Who Doth Protest Too Much" is an angry poem directed at women who make ineffective criticisms of the circumstances and presumably the people who exploit women. The poem seeks to attack that component of womanhood that brings an unjust forgiveness to the world.
This is a confusing poem and its images feel like a rant more than a focused condemnation.

Child abuse is such a sad fact of life and it can destroy the victims as they have no one to turn to, your poem is powerful and melancholy too, love Dolly x

True, there are few things like the betrayal of a mother in our culture. I think that may be because we hold motherhood in such a high regard. Even in nature it has a special place unequal to any other relation.

A moving entry.

I must agree wholeheartedly with this writing of yours. I used to be afraid of my older brother-in-law, and mom could never understand why. I managed to stay away from him in my growing years, but he was a predator. Nicely done. Good luck in the contest.
