Oh no! In India, several years ago A man falsely claimed his brother
Was dead so he could inherit the family assets. Say it wasn't so Joe/Jake. Line five, had you given thought to using UNDEAD?

a true story circa 2003. there was a NYT article on it. and this from the internet

ASSOCIATION OF LIVING DEAD! « Jana Aastha News Online
The founder of the association is its president Lal Bihari, who was "dead" from 1976 to 1994 and used the word Mritak (dead) as prefix in his name during the period. He became so famous it inspired Indian film director Satish Kaushik who made a movie Kaagaz, starring Pankaj Tripathi, based on his life. It was released on ZEE5 in January ...

In order to bring attention and justice to the throngs of the undead , Bihari formed Mritak Sangh, the Association of the Dead. Many were worse off than he, suffering beatings and threats from the family members who had defrauded them. Many of them were even in danger of losing their real lives at the hands of those who had profited from their ...

I just had one of those Drive Way Moments, where I sit in my car outside of my house unable to kill the engine because I'd briefly lose power to the radio (which is why I always donate to my local NPR station). This one was about a man from the Indian province of Uttar Pradesh who had been dead for eighteen years and was getting really tired of it. The man, Lal Behari, was declared dead ...

Very well-written and stated poem on the sad state of affairs. Even this did not deter Arizona voters who voted for election deniers in their primary. Unfortunately, this story did not get National attention.
Best wishes,
Mary

You have described a situation here that is difficult to believe, and sets my mind spinning. Will politicians go to any lengths to make sure they can lead us as they, and not the people, wish. And as to other applications, such as that you describe in India, it leads me to imagine unmentionable horrors - what a tool for flash fiction writing! Kate xx

Thank you for your truthfulness, voting fraud is the only hoax. It is a sad attempt to discredit our system. Democrats or Republicans, makes no difference to me, as long as they do right for our country and the world. They get my vote.

Hi Jake,
I'm a fan of the 'Living Dead' series on TV. Remember watching one of the first back in the 80's, possibly late 70's...'The Night of the Living Dead'. Scared the bejesus out of me. But who knows what will happen in the future with all inoculations and cocktails of drugs they are pumping into us?

I find this story bizarre, that someone could declare another 'Living Dead'... hmmmm, but when I think on it, I've know more than a few who could drop right into that category, but I believe drugs and or, alcohol were involved:)

All the very best in this 'Your Choice Poetry' contest... it certainly was an interesting write.

With our thoughts we create...
Breath.

Kind regards,
James.
