Aww, I am an animal lover and I feel so sad for this dog, I'm certain with gentleness from your sister and your brother in law she will warm up and feel safe. Steak bones are a must.

Dogs are similar to humans in that they can be traumatised by past events that make then have unnecessary fears, it is so sad that Abbie is afraid but maybe she can be trained when she trusts her new owner, I wish your sister luck, love Dolly x

OMG! She felt comfortable because she had been raised in a smaller cage!

I just adopted a cat that has now been in four homes. He is not bonding with the cat we adopted three years ago, and it breaks my heart.

Your sister is a saint. We can't give up on these animals.

Thank you for sharing this story that too many of us can relate to.

Thank you for your review and kind words. I have had many cats over the years, and unlike dogs, they rarely bonded because each had its own personality. Some were more difficult than others in adjusting to home life. One, I even suspect, was once feral, he was mean spirited. Cats are independent by nature. I think they would bond if they were kittens together. Even then, my Boris and Natasha brother and sister, were not close.

So sad what happens to dogs that are used for breeding. At least Abbie is in a good place. She will probably always be nervous but the love will reach her. Excellent dog story that gives Abbie a voice.

This is such a sad story, Mary. I'm so happy they found her, poor baby. The cruelty to animals comes in all different forms, as you have written about here. Pure greed and no regard for poor Abbie. Loved this! Best, JohnC

I enjoyed reading this story and thank you for sharing it with us. I have mentioned on occasion I would enjoy having a Goldendoodle because it would be the best of both breeds of dogs. One of sons replied, 'But Mom, you'd pay a lot of money for a mutt." I guess that's right. LOL

concerned that she would not survive due to the wildlife in the area and the freezing temperatures. & Without success, until someone suggested that they use a smaller trap with no bait. & The hope was that she would bond with the other large poodle dog in the house to help her adjust to home life (In these sentences omit the word 'that'. It's an unneeded extra word.)

Thank you for your review, and glad you enjoyed Abbie's story.
Thank you also for the suggestion on THAT. It is a common issue with me In nearly every story. The next story I write, I should put a sticky note on the computer to remind me to avoid THAT.

Great club entry. It broke my heart that Abbie went into the smaller cage because that was the only space that felt like "home." She is a traumatized dog, and it is so sad. Thank you for sharing about this dog. Keep us updated.

Oh, thank you for sharing Abbie's story for the Animal Crackers Club. I'm so sad for her that she had nine litters and never even lived a normal happy life being with loving family members. I hope she will get over all her anxiety.

What a sad story, Mary. I don't know how those puppy mills continue to operate without being caught and shut down. If people weren't willing to pay such crazy prices to buy these breeds, it would end. I hope Abbie will eventually adjust. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your review, Judy. It is better to give a shelter dog (or cat) needing agood home, rather than buying "designer dogs"
